7-day Forecast For period of May 2, 2008 - May 8, 2008 Weather Forecast The tropical cyclone “Nargis (01B) “’ in the middle Bengal Bay will landfall in the coastal areas Myanmar at night today ( 2 May, 2008) and then weaken and will move to northern Thailand. These causes heavy to very heavy rainfall in many places over Thailand especially in the west portion of country mostly during 2-5 May. The southwesterly wind has prevailed over the Andaman Sea will intensify its strength. High wave will occur in the Andaman Sea with wave height above 3 meters during 2-4 May and 2-3 meters in the thundershowers areas over the Gulf of Thailand during 3-6 May. Warning During this period, people in the risky areas such as Chiang Rai, Mae Hong Son, Tak, Chiang Mai, Phrae, Lampang, Nan, Uttaradit, Phetchabun, Sukhothai Kanchaburi and Uthai Thani provinces should beware of flash flood and small ship in the Andaman Sea should keep ashore during 2-4 May while all ship in the upper Gulf from Nakhon Si Thammarat northward should proceed with caution during 3-6 May. Northern Part Fairly widespread thundershowers with heavy to very heavy rain in many places and windy during 2-5 May and then decreasing in rainfall. Southwesterly and southerly winds 10-30 km/hr. Northeastern Part Scattered to fairly widespread thundershowers and isolated heavy rain throughout of the period. Southwesterly winds 15-30 km/hr. Central Part Scattered to fairly widespread thundershowers. Isolated heavy to very heavy rain with windy mostly in the western portion especially during 2-5 May. Southwesterly winds 15-30 km/hr. Eastern Part Scattered to fairly widespread thundershowers and isolated heavy rain mostly along the mountain and coastal areas especially during 3-6 May. Southwesterly winds 15-35 km./hr. Wave height 1-2 meters , except for 2-3 meters in the thundershower areas. Southern Part (East Coast) Scattered to fairly widespread thundershowers and isolated heavy rain especially during 2-5 May. Southwesterly winds 15-35 km./Hr. Wave height 1-2 meters and about 2 meters offshore during 3-6 May. Southern Part (West Coast) Scattered to fairly widespread thundershowers and isolated heavy to very heavy rain throughout most of the period. Southwesterly winds 20-45 km/hr. wave height 2-3 meters, except for during 2-4 May above 3 meters in the upper Andaman Sea.
