General Situation at 04:00 AM local Time The surge of intense high pressure system from China has extended its ridge to cover Thailand and the Gulf, causing colder weather to 15 January, 2009 and windy while very cold in some places over the North and Northeast including frost in some places over the mountain tops.

The strong northeast monsoon prevails over the Gulf and southern Thailand. Widely scattered thundershower is likely over the lower southern Thailand from Surat Thani southward while wave height 2-4 meters and landward winds occur in the coastal areas of southern east coast. All ships should proceed with caution and small boats keep ashore during 12-15 January, 2009.

Minimum temperature 8-14 C. Maximum temperature 24-28 C.

Northeastern Part Cold to very cold and windy.

Minimum temperature 6-12C. Maximum temperature 23-24C.

Very cold on mountain tops, minimum temperature 2-7 C and frost in some place. Northeasterly winds 20-35 km/hr.

Central Part Cold, about 1 C drop with windy.

Minimum temperature 13-15 C. Maximum temperature 26-27C.

Northeasterly winds 15-35 km/hr.

Eastern Part Windy and cold in the upper portion, minimum temperature 13-15C and cool in elsewhere, minimum temperature 16-20 C. Maximum temperature 27-30 C.

Northeasterly winds 20-40 km/hr.

Wave height 1-2 meters and 2-3 meters offshore.

Southern Part (East Coast) Cool. Widely scattered thundershowers from Surat Thani southward.

Minimum temperature 17-23 C. Maximum temperature 25-29 C.

Northeasterly winds 20-45 km/hr. Wave height 2-4 meters.

Southern Part (West Coast) Cool and cloudy.

Minimum temperature 19-21 C. Maximum temperature 29-32 C.

Northeasterly winds 20-35 km/hr.

Wave height 1-2 meters and about 2 meters offshore.

Metropolitan Cold with windy.

Minimum temperature 14-16 C. Maximum temperature 26-28 C.
