Subject: Tropical storm CHANTHU

At 0400 a.m. tropical storm CHANTHU in the South China Sea was centered about 750 km southeast of Hainan, China or latitude 16.2 degree North and longitude 116.0 degree East, with sustained wind of 65 km/hr. This storm is moving northwest at about 14 km/hr and expected to make landfall over southern China on 22 July 2010.
This condition strengthens the prevailing southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf of Thailand and also triggers torrential rain and isolated heavy rainfalls over the country. People along foothills and near waterways are warned of flash flood and water run-off across the northern and upper northeastern during 20-23 July. Wind-wave over the Andaman Sea and the Upper Gulf becomes stronger; all ships should proceed with caution.
