"Subject: Typhoon CHANTHU"No. 8 (67/2553) Time Issued : July 23, 2010
At 10.00 a.m. today, tropical storm “CHANTHU” was centered over Guangxi, China or latitude 23.2 degree North and longitude 107.8 degree East, with maximum sustained wind of 65 km/hr. It is expect that this storm does not pass Thailand; increasing rainfalls and isolated heavy rain are likely, however, in the North and the Northeast. People along foothills and near waterways are warned of flash flood during this period. Provinces prone to disaster include Chiang Rai, Phayao, Nan, Phare, Uttraradit, Phitsanulok, Phetchabun, Nong Khai, Sakon Nakhon and Nakhon Phanom.
The southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf intensifies. More rainfall and isolated heavy rain are likely in the windward side of the Central, the East and the South. Wind and wave in the Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf especially in thundershower areas strengthens. All ships in the Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf of Thailand proceed with caution during 23-25 July 2010.
