Thai Rating and Information Service (TRIS) announced Tuesday, 7
October 1997 in a CreditUpdate that it has cancelled the ratings assigned to
the corporate and the 1,000 million baht subordinated debentures of Cathay
Finance and Securities PLC (CATHAY) at the request of the company.
Therefore, TRIS will no longer monitor CATHAY's ratings, and the
ratings assigned previously cannot be used as references.
Note: "CreditUpdate" reviews ratings of companies or debt issues that have
already been rated by TRIS. CreditUpdate occurs when new debt instruments
are issued or if significant events have taken place that may impact a
company's current ratings or when current ratings are cancelled. The update
includes information to supplement the previously published ratings.
