SET Organises Seminar on Economic Recovery and the Law

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) has announceddetails of an end-of-year seminar entitled: "Economic Recovery: and the Law : Principles and Impact". The event, which will be free-of-charge, will be held on 24 December 1998 from 1.20pm to 5.30pm in the auditorium on the third floor of the Stock Exchange Building on Rachadapisek road.
The aim of the seminar is to clarify the necessity for, and the possible impact of, the many laws being introduced by the government to assist Thailand's economic recovery. The main targets are executives from listed companies, brokers, investors and officials from related organizations. The event is also being organized to help promote a better understanding of the eleven laws which are seen by the government as a particularly important part of efforts to boost the Thai economy. The main issues to bediscussed during the seminar by the prestigious line up of speakers will include the new legislation on debt restructuring and foreign ownership levels.
The seminar will be presided over by the SET President, Mr Singh Tangtatswas. The main speakers will include Mr Norawat Suuvarn, the Director-General of the Department of Commercial Registrations at the Commerce Ministry; Mr Wisit Wisitsora-at, the executive director of the Business Reorganization Office of the Legal Executive Department at the Justice Ministry; Mr Prakit Pardipasen, senior executive vice president of the Siam Commercial Bank Public Company Limited; Mr Boonklee Plangsiri, group vice chairman of the Shinawatra Group; and, Mr Kittipong Urapeepatanapong, a director at the law firm of Baker McKenzie Company Limited. The seminar moderator will be MrMontree Sornpaisarn, a director of the Investment Banking Division at SG Asia Credit Public Company Limited.
