SHANGRI-LA HOTEL, CHIANG MAI WARMLY WELCOMES NEW GENERAL MANAGER

Bangkok--17 Oct--Shangri-La Hotel, Chiang Mai Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, Asia Pacific’s leading luxury hotel group, has appointed Franz Richter as the new General Manager of Shangri-La Hotel, Chiang Mai. Originally from Germany, Mr. Richter has enjoyed over 30 successful years in the hospitality industry throughout Asia. He began his career with the Shangri-La hotel group at Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong as Resident Manager and as Hotel Manager at Pudong Shangri-La, Shanghai, where he proved his leadership successfully with strong customer relations and the success of both hotel’s major renovation and extension projects. Prior to re-joining Shangri-La hotel group and Shangri-La Hotel, Chiang Mai, he was the General Manager of The Ritz Carlton Hotel, Tianjin in China. Mr. Richter also held senior positions with Hyatt International, InterContinental Hotels Group and Ritz Carlton Hotels. He has served in Hong Kong, Bali, Dubai, Fukuoka, New Delhi, Jakarta and Seoul. Franz is a graduate of Stadthagen Hotel University. He started his hotel career as a trained Chef and his leadership ability has seen him appointed General Manager early in his career. Mr. Richter aims to use his management experience and leadership skills to establish the hotel as the premier hotel with distinctive standards of hospitality in the cultural rich city of Chiang Mai. He is joined in Chiang Mai by his wife and 2 teenage children, his son and younger daughter. “Chiang Mai is a treasure of Asia and I believe genuine care and comfort for our guest, combined with an engaged and dedicated team, will establish our Hotel as the prime destination for both leisure and business travelers,” Mr. Richter said.
