General Situation The strong southwest monsoon prevails over the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand. Torrential thundershowers will be likely much of the country with isolated heavy rain forecast for the North, the Northeast, and the East. Flash floods are possible for

the risk areas. People should beware of the severe condition. The strong wind waves are likely 2-4 meters high in the Andaman Sea but above 4 meters high in thundershower areas, and 2-3 meters high in the upper Gulf. All ships should proceed with caution, and small boats keep ashore lasting 20 August.

Tropical storm “BEBINCA” due 80 km south of Hanoi, Vietnam is moving west at a speed of 16 km/hr to

upper Vietnam by today (17 August). It will then decline to a tropical depression and a low-pressure cell respectively and covers Laos. During 17–18 August, torrential rain will affect the North, the Northeast, the East and the South.

Northern Part Very cloudy with torrential thundershowers and isolated heavy to very heavy rain in Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Lamphun, Lampang, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Nan, Phrae, Uttaradit, Sukhothai, Tak and Kamphaeng Phet.

Minimum temperature 23-25 C.

Maximum temperature 30-32 C.

Southwesterly winds 15-30 km/hr.

Northeastern Part Very cloudy with torrential thundershowers and isolated heavy to very heavy rain in Udon Thani,

Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Nakhon Phanom, Sakon Nakhon, Mukdahan, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen,

Ubon Ratchathani, Kalasin, Maha Sarakham and Roi Et.

Minimum temperature 24-26 C. Maximum temperature 28-33 C.

Southwesterly winds 15-30 km/hr.

Central Part Cloudy with scattered thundershowers mostly in Ratchaburi, Kanchanaburi,

Uthai Thani and Nakhon Sawan.

Minimum temperature 23-26 C.

Maximum temperature 31-34 C.

Southwesterly winds 15-30 km/hr.

Eastern Part Very cloudy with fairly widespread thundershowers and isolated heavy rain in Nakhon Nayok,

Prachin Buri, Sa Kaeo, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat.

Minimum temperature 24-27 C.

Maximum temperature 30-33 C.

Southwesterly winds 20-40 km/hr.

Wave height 2-3 meters and about 3 meters in thundershower areas.

Southern Part (East Coast) Cloudy with scattered thundershowers mostly in Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan,

Chumphon and Surat Thani.

Minimum temperature 23-26 C. Maximum temperature 32-36 C.

Surat Thani northward: Southwesterly winds 20-35 km/hr.

Wave height about 2 meters and above 2 meters offshore.

Nakhon Si Thammarat southward: Southwesterly winds 15-35 km/hr.

Wave height 1-2 meters and about 2 meters offshore.

Southern Part (West Coast) Cloudy with scattered thundershowers and isolated heavy rain in Ranong, Phangnga and Phuket.

Minimum temperature 23-26 C. Maximum temperature 31-34 C.

Phuket northward: Southwesterly winds 20-45 km/hr.

Wave height 2-4 meters and above 4 meters in thundershower areas.

Krabi southward: Southwesterly winds 20-35 km/hr.

Wave height about 2 meters and above 2 meters in thundershower areas.

Metropolitan Cloudy with scattered thundershowers and isolated heavy rain.

Maximum temperature 31-34 C.
