การปรับตัวของมณฑลในแคนาดาตะวันตกกับอุตสาหกรรมเศรษฐกิจสร้างสรร ในศตวรรษที่ 21 มณฑลแมนิโทบา (Manitoba)

มณฑล Manitoba มีประชากรประมาณ 1.1 ล้านคน โดยมีแหล่งเศรษฐกิจที่สำคัญและป็นเมืองหลวง ได้แก่เมือง Winnipeg (ประชากรประมาณ 0.63 ล้านคน) ประชากรกลุ่มใหญ่ที่สุดได้แก่ ชาวอังกฤษ รองลงมาได้แก่ชาวเยอรมัน และ Scottish ตามลำดับ สินค้าส่งออกของมณฑล Manitoba ที่สำคัญ ได้แก่ Nikel, Copper, Bectrical, Engery และ Wheat ตามลำดับ

• มีการจ้างาน ประมาณ 15,000 คน และมีรายได้ประมาณ 600 ล้านเหรียญสหรัฐฯ ต่อปี ทั้งนี้ มณฑล Manitoba มีการส่งออกสินค้าในธุรกิจ ICT ประมาณ 227 ล้านเหรียญสหรัฐฯ ต่อปี ไปยังต่างประเทศ ทั่วโลก ฅสินค้าที่สำคัญของธุรกิจ ICT ในมณฑล Manitoba ได้แก่ electronic components, telecommunications equipment, computer equipment, instrumentation, packaged software, wire and cable และอื่นๆ ฅบริการที่สำคัญของธุรกิจ ICT ในมณฑล Manitoba ได้แก่ บริการด้าน telecommunications, ICT wholesaling, software development and consulting, broadband data transmission, Internet service provision, cable television, office equipment rentals, services to the customer contact industry และอื่นๆ

• มีการจ้างาน ประมาณ 5,100 คน และมีการสร้างรายได้ให้กับมณฑลในปี 2551 มากกว่า 1.6 พันล้านเหรียญสหรัฐฯ ต่อปี สินค้าและบริการหลักในธุรกิจนี้ ได้แก่ Manufacturing และ Repair & Overhaul ซึ่งนับเป็นร้อยละ 80 ของรายได้ทั้งหมดในภาคธุรกิจนี้ ของมณฑล Manitoba (ร้อยละ 20 จาก Aerospace training and services)
• ธุรกิจดังกล่าวในมณฑล Manitoba นำโดยบริษัทเอกชนข้ามชาติยักษ์ใหญ่ 4 บริษัท ได้แก่ Boeing Technology Canada, StandardAero, Magellan Aerospace Limited - Winnipeg (Bristol Aerospace), และ Aveos Fleet Performance Inc. ตลอดจนผู้ประกอบการรายย่อยอื่นประมาณ 23 ราย
• ธุรกิจดังกล่าวในมณฑล Manitoba จัดเป็นธุรกิจชั้นนำ ที่เป็นจุดเด่นของมณฑล ซึ่งรัฐบาลได้ให้ความสำคัญต่อการค้นคว้า วิจัยเทคโนโลยีใหม่ๆ โดยได้มีการร่วมลงทุนในโครงการวิจัยใหม่ๆ หลายโครงการ
• บริษัทยักษ์ใหญ่อาทิ Boeing, Aveos, Magellan Aerospace, Advanced Composite Structures และ Acsion Industries ต่างมีการตั้งฐานโรงงานผลิตชิ้นส่วนในมณฑล Manitoba โดยบริษัท Boeing มีโรงงานและกำลังการผลิตในมณฑล Manitoba ซึ่งมีขนาดใหญ่ที่สุดในทวีปอเมริกาเหนือ
• The Composites Innovation Centre, เป็นแหล่งวิจัย ค้นคว้า และฝึกแรงงานด้าน Aerospace ที่สำคัญของ Manitoba
