ตามที่ญี่ปุ่นประสบอุทกภัยจากเหตุฝนตกหนักทางฝั่งตะวันตกของญี่ปุ่นตั้งแต่วันที่ 5 กรกฎาคม 2561 ส่งผลให้มีผู้เสียชีวิต และผู้เสียหายใน จ. ฮิโรชิมะ เอฮิเมะ คาโกชิมะ โอกายามะ เฮียวโก เกียวโต ชิกะ ฟูกูโอกะ โคจิ และยามากูจิ นั้น
พลเอก ประยุทธ์ จันทร์โอชา นายกรัฐมนตรี ได้มีข้อความสารถึงนายชินโซ อาเบะ นายกรัฐมนตรีญี่ปุ่น ดังนี้
Excellency,
On behalf of the Royal Thai Government and people of Thailand, I would like to express my deepest condolences to the Government and the people of Japan on the loss of lives and widespread devastation caused by the severe floods and landslides as a result of the torrential rainfall in Western Japan. My thoughts and prayers are with the relatives of the victims and to all those affected by this tragic disaster.
It is my fervent hope that the situation will improve shortly. Given the resilience of Japan and her people, I am confident that the affected areas will make a quick recovery and return to normalcy. As always, Thailand stands ready to offer any assistance you may need during these difficult times.
