ตามที่นาย Paek Nam Sun รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศเกาหลีเหนือได้เสียชีวิตเมื่อวันที่ 2 มกราคม 2550 นั้น
นายสวนิต คงสิริ รัฐมนตรีช่วยว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศ ในฐานะผู้แทนรัฐบาลไทย ได้มีสารแสดงความเสียใจถึงนาย Kang Sok Chu ผู้ช่วยรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศเกาหลีเหนือคนที่หนึ่ง (First Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs) ดังนี้
Excellency,
I wish to express my heartfelt condolences, through you, to the bereaved family and friends of His Excellency Foreign Minister Paek Nam Sun who passed away recently.
His Excellency Paek Nam Sun was a good friend of Thailand who devoted, especially in the last few years of his life, considerable efforts to promoting bilateral ties between Thailand and DPRK. He will always be fondly remembered.
Accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration.
