Ministry of Commerce successfully woos international buyers to join Made in Thailand in Focus, promoting Thai products in the global market and strengthening the AEC

Bangkok--29 Jan--subbook pr Ministry of Commerce is satisfied with the feedback for “Made in Thailand in Focus”, after having successfully drawn buyers from around the globe to join. The objective is to promote Thai products among the international market and strengthen the AEC. Department of International Trade Promotion, Ministry of Commerce, reveals the success of Made in Thailand in Focus, which will take place from January 28 to February 1, 2015 (for both B2B and retail, five days in total), at EH101-EH104, Bitec Bang Na. This year, the DITP has invited trade representatives through Offices of Commercial Affairs. International buyers have confirmed their attendance, flying in from countries in Asean and beyond, including Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, USA, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Iran. Deputy Commerce Minister Apiradee Tantraporn said, "We have received a great response from buyers from around the world thanks to the policy of DITP to create awareness about Thai values in the international market. This will help Thai businesses increase their potential and promote cross border trade, focusing on Asean Plus countries. This aggressive policy by the government will help prepare Thai businesses for the competition that will come with the AEC in 2015, following which Asean will become a single market and single production base.” In 2014, the value of Thai export was more than 200 billion US dollars, 25% of which was export to Asean countries. For 2015, the Ministry of Commerce has set a target growth for Thai export at 4%. To ensure that the target is met, Made in Thailand in Focus is an important factor which will allow Thai businesses to meet with international buyers from Asean Plus countries such as China, India, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, and Cambodia, as well as other regions such as America, Africa, and the Middle East. The event is expected to generate over 300 baht of trade value, and more than 20,000 visitors are expected.
