ตามที่ได้เกิดเหตุการณ์พายุทอร์นาโดที่เมืองมัวร์ มลรัฐโอกลาโฮมา สหรัฐอเมริกา เมื่อวันที่ ๒๐ พฤษภาคม ๒๕๕๖ ส่งผลให้มีผู้เสียชีวิตอย่างน้อย ๒๔ คน และผู้บาดเจ็บกว่า ๒๐๐ คน นั้น นางสาวยิ่งลักษณ์ ชินวัตร นายกรัฐมนตรี และนายสุรพงษ์ โตวิจักษณ์ชัยกุล รองนายกรัฐมนตรีและรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศ ได้มีสารแสดงความเสียใจถึงประธานาธิบดีสหรัฐฯ และรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศสหรัฐฯ ดังนี้

“Honorable President,
I learned with the deepest sorrow of the devastation and tragic losses in lives caused by the major tornado which struck Moore, Oklahoma, on 20 May 2013. On behalf of the Royal Thai Government and the people of Thailand, I wish to take this opportunity to express to you our profound condolences.
During this difficult time of sorrow and bereavement, the hearts and minds of the people of Thailand are with all our friends in the United States. I have full faith that under your capable leadership and the well-known resilience of the American people, the residents of Moore will soon be on the road to a full recovery.

“Mr. Secretary,
I am profoundly saddened to hear of the tragic damages and losses caused by the tornado that hit Moore, Oklahoma on 20 May 2013, which has cost at least 24 lives and caused over 200 injuries. On behalf of the Government and people of Thailand, I wish to extend our deep sympathy and condolences to Your Excellency and, through you, to all our friends in the United States who have suffered the loss of friends, families and properties from this unforeseen act of nature.
As the people of Moore are on the path towards recovery, please rest assured that our thoughts, prayers and best wishes are always with you all.
