ข่าวต่างประเทศ Wednesday October 6, 2004 12:07 —Asianet Press Release

SYDNEY, Oct. 6 -- AsiaNet The Australian International Motor Show opens in Sydney tomorrow with a name change, a new logo and dozens of new models never seen in the region before. Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI) Chief Executive, Peter Sturrock, says the show is “firmly positioned among the world’s top 10 automotive expos.” He says the change of name (formerly Sydney Motor Show) recognises the event’s growing international profile as the southern hemisphere’s largest and most important motor show. A record 120,000 Australian-made cars and utilities are likely to be exported by the end of the year. Total exports, including parts, will top $US3.5 billion. It makes the automotive industry Australia’s sixth biggest exporter, ahead of wool, beef and wheat.
