The Asia-Pacific region's prestige design award HKDA Awards 05 announced
today an open invitation to all designers in the region to take part in this
unique opportunity for design talents across disciplines to present their works
of design excellence for recognition at the professional and regional levels.
HKDA Awards 05 calls for entries in four main categories of graphic,
product, new media and spatial, with a total of 32 sub-categories celebrating
professional design specialisations, including the latest addition of "character" sub-category. A record number of entries for HKDA Awards 05 is anticipated by the organiser. In 2002, the then HKDA Design 02 Show registered a total of over 2,300 entries from 40 cities in the region.
Widely acknowledged by design peers as one of the most important multi-disciplinary design awards in the Asia-Pacific region, HKDA Awards 05 is the definitive benchmark for design professionals, reflected by the largest number of entries with its three decades of history. Originated from Hong Kong, HKDA Awards 05 (formerly known as HKDA Design
Show) was relaunched this year with a new name and new identity. Organised since 1975 by Hong Kong Designers Association, HKDA Awards 05 celebrates its 30th anniversary in recognising the creative excellence and achievement of individual designers in the region.
HKDA Awards 05 made a number of "first times" this year with the relaunch.This will be the first time for entries from all participating territories to be judged under one banner, marking HKDA Awards 05 as a truly regional event.This will also be the first year for HKDA Awards 05 to introduce the Endorsement Mark scheme, offering an exclusive right for the entitled winners
to use them for promotional purposes.
Gold, Silver, Bronze, Excellence and Merit Awards will be offered to the
selected entries of each design category. The Award results will be announced at the Award Presentation Dinner which is to be held on 20 November 2005 in Hong Kong. All winning entries will be showcased at an exhibition to be held at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from 20 to 23 November 2005 and published in the HKDA Award 05 Catalogue.
Over 200 pieces of works by past awardees have been collected by the Hong Kong Heritage Museum in recognition of their substantial influence for younger generations of designers and design trends over decades.
The HKDA Awards 05 entry deadline is 16 July 2005.
