Develop leadership skills through self-discovery during the childhood years, with the DBS Summer School and its Enhanced British Curriculum. Bangkok--13 Aug--Denla British School (DBS) Why do people in the Western world have the courage to express themselves, make decisions; and know what they like and are passionate about? Studies have found that the education curricula from western countries help nurture children to grow up with established goals. This is especially true with regards to the British curriculum that focuses on student learning and participation in numerous activities; as a result, the curriculum allows children to explore what they like and what they want to be. From mid-July to August each year, DBS Denla British School, which is situated on Ratchapruek Road, opens its Summer School to bring courses from its Enhanced British Curriculum from the best practice of the top independent schools in the UK. Students are taught from other schools as well in the hope that all the children who come to the DBS Summer School will get to know themselves better, as well as practising leadership during their developing years - an important skill that DBS has embedded into its courses. “ Self-discovery is at the core of the British curriculum; the key attribute of this self-discovery is leadership skill. Leadership skill does not mean that everyone has to become a leader, but rather refers to taking charge of our own lives, through planning and taking on our own responsibilities,” said Charlie Plowright, DBS Summer School Manager. For the DBS Summer School, the Leadership Programme has been initiated to develop students' potential for them to practise critical thinking and decision making. Students are required to plan and work together with younger students or with peers of the same age. When the course is completed, what they gain is more than just merely a certificate, but a profile that can be used for applications to universities, job applications, and crucial life skills for the future. DBS is currently accepting applications for students from Pre-EY-Y10 level (or equivalent to pre-kindergarten to Matthayom 3 in the Thai schooling system), with a 20% admission fee discount, and scholarship opportunities for students aged 7+.
