Guangdong province offers tremendous opportunities for AIT

กรุงเทพฯ--20 มิ.ย.--AIT A four-member strong delegation representing the education sector from Guangdong province, People’s Republic of China (PRC), offered a tie-up with the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) stating that the education requirements of Guangdong are immense, and that AIT is ideally placed to benefit from the opportunity. The delegation expressed their desire to launch joint, dual-degree and unified programs at Bachelor’s and Master’s level between AIT and universities in Guangdong. They also invited AIT to explore the possibility of establishing a campus, stating that infrastructure and campus facilities already exist in Guangdong in case AIT is interested in establishing a center. Led by Dr. Sen Zhuang, Professor of Guangzhou Pearl-River Vocational-Techno College and Director of Guangdong Education Services of International Exchanges (Tianhe Branch), the delegation stated that they are the only official governmental organization in Guangdong province, which is authorized to handle foreign student affairs. The organization can liaise with all universities and educational institutes located in Guagdong province. Welcoming the delegation, Prof. I. M. Pandey, Vice President for Academic Affairs, AIT stated that China is an important partner for AIT. AIT has had a strong academic linkage with Institutes in China, and students from China have always had a presence in the Institute, he remarked. He welcomed the proposal of a satellite campus in Guangdong. The visiting delegation expressed a keen interest in the International Unified Bachelor-Master program, and stated that they are keen to launch the unified program in the coming few months. They welcomed the idea of a two-stage program, where students would be admitted in China for the first phase of the program, and they could complete the final phase of their program at AIT. Guang Dong province is one of the most developed regions in China, with half a million tertiary level students graduating every year. Fifty-two percent of them graduate from colleges under a three-year study program; while the remaining 48 per cent graduate from universities under a four-year program. The visiting delegation included Dr. Sen Zhuang; Mr. Ming Huang, Professor of Guangzhou Pearl-River Vocational_Techno College and Acting Dean of International Education College; Mr. Chunlei Chen, Chairman of Guang Dong Yuan Kun Investment Group Co. Ltd.; and Mr. Rirong Chen, Director of Guang Dong Yuan Kun Investment Group Co.Ltd.
