Mr. Thavorn Cananub, Acting Managing Director of Prachuap Port Co. Ltd. or PPC, has recently received the key of Mobile Harbour Cranes from Mr. Vudhikorn Luanvudhi, a representative of Machine Technology Co. Ltd.,a contractor of Gottwald Port Technology GmbH. The PPC Shore Crane Project has successfully installed and been ready to be used since 18 April 2012. It was used to discharge the first lot of 48,000 tonnes steel slab valued at US$30 million which had produced by SSI Teesside, the United Kingdom and were shipped to Thailand by the vessel named “BLUE FIN” in order to be used as raw material to produce hot-rolled coil at SSI Bangsaphan plant. The shipment arrived at Prachuap Port, Bangsaphan on 15 June 2012.
PPC has invested in PPC Shore Crane Project by installing two 100-ton Mobile Habour Cranes of Gottwald Port Technology GmbH worth EUR 6,580,000 or Bt. 280 million. This project will enhance discharging and loading capability of steel slabs and other cargoes, according to the plan to reduce transportation cost by US$ 7.5/ton by utilizing a large Panamax vessel.
