Today, November 22, 2010, H.E. Abhisit Vejjajiva, the Prime Minister of Thailand, gave the opening address of the ASEAN Business Forum 2010 : Collaboration for Competitiveness hosted by the Board of Trade of Thailand, Thailand Management Association (TMA), and Thai Institute of Directors Association (IOD), to serve as an annual event where ASEAN business leaders meet to update and share insights among themselves, how the progressing of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) Roadmap shall affect their business, what adjustments and changes they will be adopting in responding to the changing business landscape towards2015, and what pending issues should they be addressing. The event is scheduled on 22nd — 23rd of November 2010 at the Plaza Athenee Bangkok.
Mr. Tevin Vongvanich, Chief Financial Officer of PTT Public Company Limited acting the President of the TMA, said as ASEAN will become a sizable market which will be immensely attractive to potential investors, traders and customers from all over the world. It is therefore crucial for every ASEAN country to evaluate her competitiveness and explore possible model of collaboration in order to strengthen the position in coping with the forthcoming intense competition in 2015 and beyond. This year’s ASEAN Business Forum focuses on the regional competitiveness and collaboration in moving toward the ASEAN Economic Community in 2015 as well as other issues to be debated on the sustainable development. Participants were the delegates from International Chamber of Commerce Member from 130 countries, ASEAN Business Advisory Council Member from 10 countries, and international partners.
