Bangkok--30 Nov--Maxima Consultants Collect bottle, plastic, can, paper box …and recycle them to save our planet… The Federation of Thai Industries’ Chairman Payungsak Chartsutipol recently presided over the ‘84th His Majesty the King Birthday … 84 Million Kilogrammes Recyclable Waste’, the special project aiming to reduce the packaging wastes organized by Thailand Institute of Packaging and Recycling Management for Sustainable Environment (TIPMSE). The special campaign aimed to collect 84 million kilogrammes of recyclable waste over the next year in honour of His Majesty the King’s 84 Birthday. The saleng parade collecting recyclable materials was started at the opening’s venue at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, Zone D. During the event, the participated organizations strongly made their commitment of waste collection within a year from today will be around 59,633,660 kilogrammes. Mr.Payungsak Chartsutipol, Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries said that ‘the statistic by Pollution Control Department shows that the waste in Thailand has progressively increased each year. Of the total 15.11 million tons of waste generated in 2009, the increasing amount is accounted for 0.08 million tons compare with its collection in 2008, or the amount of waste increasing of 0.53 percent. Not seriously actions were taken, the household and commercial sectors have relatively low recycling rates - only an approximately 20.65 percent of the total waste are reused or recycling. In the auspiciousoccasion of His Majesty the King’s 84th Birthday, Thailand Institute of Packaging and Recycling Management for Sustainable Environment (TIPMSE) initiates ‘84th His Majesty the King Birthday … 84 Million Kilogrammes Recyclable Waste’ campaign. The campaign aims to build an awareness for differentiate of ‘packaging’ and ‘waste’. We have set a goal for collecting the recyclable waste around 84,000 tons or 84 million kilogrammes within one year after the launching. Since the waste is a problem of national concerns, it would be beneficial for us to make our contribution and co-operate in this green action.
