Alliance Francaise de Bangkok is proud to present an exceptional and exclusive exhibition of Vues d’optique or perspective views, a special type of popular print prevalent during the 17th and 18th centuries. These prints are basically an engraving which was designed to be viewed through optical devices thereby creating a striking perspective effect.
Only a few of Vues d’optique still exist today. The art lovers will have this opportunity to admire the private collection of Late Count Jean de Machwitz portraying European buildings, scenes from daily life and dresses from the Age of Enlightenment.
These special prints will be displayed from January 7 to February 13, 2011 (closed on Monday) at Alliance Francaise’s media library. Admission is free of charge.
