CAT Telecom Public Company Limited (CAT) and True Group today completed the purchase agreement of shares in certain companies in Hutchison Group. This marks an important milestone in service innovation that will deliver optimum benefits enabling the Thai population to equally access knowledge, information, and news via 3G HSPA technology that will have nationwide coverage within 2 years.
Mr. Jirayut Rungsrithong, President of CAT Telecom Public Company Limited said that today’s success of CAT and True’s completion of the purchase agreement of shares in companies of the Hutchison Group represents a major step forward for the Thai telecommunications industry immediately bringing access to knowledge, information, and news to Thai consumers via 3G. With both CDMA and HSPA technologies, CAT will be able to provide a new dimension of 3G mobile telephone services, and is confident that this cooperation will deliver the maximum benefits to the Thai people while nationwide coverage of this service will be completed within 2 years.
Mr. Suphachai Chearavanont, President & CEO, True Corporation Public Company Limited said that the successful purchase of shares in companies of the Hutchison Group will enable True to forge ahead its 3G services along with CAT using both CDMA and HSPA technologies which can be implemented immediately by utilizing network equipment under TrueMove’s concession. CDMA customers can continue using their existing services and will be able to upgrade to HSPA technology once the network rollout has been completed.
