Bangkok--16 Feb--LG-One
Having recently announced is achievement as Asia’s Number One Air-Conditioner in 2010, LG Electronics (Thailand) Co., Ltd. has revealed another success, this time having gained 23.5 per cent market share in the Inverter air-conditioner market. As a result, LG has risen to the number one position in this segment. LG is highly confident that it can also rise to be number one in Thailand’s overall air-conditioner market by the end of 2011, having recently introduced the Inverter V 4D, which features 4D Healthy System technology, offering purified air and superior protection far beyond other inverter systems.
Mr. Sinamet Imaim, Product Head Senior Manager of Air Conditioners department at LG Electronics (Thailand) Co. Ltd., said “Last year, LG introduced the Health+ Inverter air-conditioner to the market, emphasizing features such as 60 per cent energy saving and silent operation at just 19-decibles. We were also pleased to work with Khun Buncha Chumchaivate as our brand ambassador, who helped to strengthen LG’s premium and reliable brand image. These factors built on our success, helping us to reach 23.5 per cent market share, and allowed us to become number one in the Inverter market. This outstanding achievement was recognized by GFK in December 2010.”
Following the success of the Health+ Inverter campaign, LG recently launched its latest residential air-conditioner, the ‘Inverter V 4D’, which was developed using Thai consumer insights. Today, consumers look for air-conditioners that offer purified healthy air, and feature energy saving and silent operation. LG’s Inverter V 4D features a ‘4D Healthy System’ to satisfy all of these requirements. The company has retained Mr. Buncha Chumchaivate as brand ambassador to continue to strengthen LG’s premium and reliable image.
“Our internal research shows that many consumers are now most interested in purchasing an Inverter model of air-conditioner. In 2010, the Inverter catered for 10 per cent of the overall market, and we forecast this will rise to 15 per cent of the overall market by the end of 2011. Furthermore, LG invested 150 million baht last year to expand our new Inverter production line. As a result, our production capacity has increased, meaning we can now produce three times as many units, so we believe that we can meet high supply demands during summer months.
“The LG Inverter V 4D also features 60 per cent less energy consumption, and that matches well with the government’s Pracha Wiwat welfare scheme number 6, under which a house that uses less than 90 units of electricity per month is not charged. We are very confident that the Inverter V 4D will be in high demand by consumers and help us to both retain our number one position in the Inverter market, and become number one in Thailand’s overall air-conditioner market by the end of 2011,” Mr. Sinamet added.
The Inverter V 4D is a strategic product for LG this year, so the company has allocated a 400 million baht marketing budget for a comprehensive, year-long marketing program. This will include a 50-province, nationwide road show, running from January until May, to give consumers product knowledge of the Inverter V 4D’s ‘4D Healthy System’ and other useful benefits. LG has also expanded sales channels to new dealers and modern trade outlets. Lastly, LG will undertake a trade campaign with participating stores, whereby LG customers can trade-in their old LG model for an Inverter V 4D at a special price. This campaign will run from March until April 2011.
