Do Good Deeds Every Day by dtac and Kids Action for Kids continue its partnership to bring back smiles to Thai kids. Website will be be launched for fund-raising campaign in Norway and Thailand to provide free surgeries for kids with cleft lips and cleft palates.
Do Good Deeds Every Day by dtac is strengthening partnerships with ‘Kids Action for Kids’ the Norway-based foundation established by youth group, to do the campaign to raise fund to help kids with facial deformities to get free surgeries. This is the 4th cooperation in the joint project ‘Do good Deeds for the Happiness and Smiles of Thai Kids’.
The campaign aims to raise fund and awareness to provide free surgeries for 50 underprivileged kids who suffered from cleft lips and cleft palates or other facial deformities. The act of doing good deeds is in honour of His Majesty the King who will be celebrating the 7th cycle or 84th birthday this year and dtac plans to have various acts of good deeds throughout the year.
As for the campaign to raise awareness in Thailand, dtac is inviting dtac subscribers nationwide to support the project by sending SMS press 1 and send it to 1677 of Ruam Duay Chuay Kan radio station from now until 24th May, 2011. Every SMS sent to 1677 accounts for 1 baht that dtac will allocate the CR budget to subsidise for free surgeries to Thai kids (free for all dtac subscribers). This year, the mission for surgeries will take place at Sappasitthiprasong Hospital, Ubon Ratchathani province.
Mr Perapong Klinla-or, Head of CR Division, says dtac decided to do this project continuously after having seen the results of the operation that successfully changed the lives of those kids and they can now smile very happily. From previous three missions, dtac and Kids Action for Kids have already provided free surgeries to 164 kids, through the coordination of Operation Smile Foundation. The previous missions were held twice at Buddha Chinnarat Hospital in Pitsanulok province and another mission at Chonburi Hospital. This year, both organizations aim to raise fund to 700,000 baht to help another 50 kids.
Mr Haakon Brekke, the Chairman of Kids Action for Kids foundation, said that Kids Action for Kids and dtac share the common goals in doing good deeds to help those underprivileged kids to get a new life. Therefore, he has joined with a group of Norwegian kids to do activities with the belief that kids too can help other kids. The group of kids have organized various fund-raising activities at schools in Norway such as selling handicraft products from Thailand, selling cookies and bakery, shoe shining and other activities that kids can participate. The activities have received strong support not only from kids and adults who would like to help Thai kids also. Through these activities, it also shows that the power of the kids that they also can join hands together to help each other though they are from different background and different countries.
To move another step of cooperation, Kids Action for Kids will also launch a website http://www.kidsactionforkids.org as another channel to promote the campaign in Thailand and Norway. Bank accounts are opened as to receive donation both in Thailand and Norway. All the funds raised through various activities will be combined with dtac which will be donated to Operation Smile Foundation to further provide free surgeries for kids with facial deformities in Thailand.
