Canon Marketing (Thailand) is actively going full steam ahead to rise as "No. 1" in all product groups and jump up to 20% growth equivalent to 9.3 billion baht revenue via its flagship product "Digital Camera" and the "One For All Delight" strategy. Such a strategy reflects Canon's strong commitment to serving every need and meeting customer satisfaction in many aspects e.g. products, service and business philosophy of the organisation.
Mr. Wataru Nishioka, President and Chief Executive Officer, Canon Marketing (Thailand) Co., Ltd. disclosed: "In the past year, Canon has successfully managed to rise above the economic turmoil thanks to the hardworking effort of our marketing team and the high efficiency of our internal operational management. Our last year’s success also stemmed from unmatched state-of-the-art technology across every product range, strong marketing and advertising campaigns, improved service quality and the use of new communication channels including the continuous launch of innovative products to serve every lifestyle. All of these have greatly contributed to higher sales revenue far beyond our expectations."
"As for the 2011 outlook, both economists and investors agree that the Asian economy is now sending a favorable signal and the economic situation in Thailand seems to show a similar direction. As a result, Canon has developed a marketing plan covering all marketing channels for new product launches across all product groups to achieve 20% growth which is equivalent to 9,320 million baht through the use of ""One For All Delight" " strategy", said Mr. Nishioka
The "One For All Delight" strategy consists of:
Delighting with Product - Canon will continue to put great emphasis on quality excellence with the constant development of breakthrough technology as the first priority including an increased variety of products to serve the needs of customers in all sectors.
- Imaging Consumer Products: Canon will be introducing the leading edge wireless technology that links its digital camera with various gadgets such as iPad and iPhone, thus allowing our customers to share pictures online instantly and perfectly. This is due largely to changing customer behaviour in image sharing. In the past, customers used to take pictures and print them out but today's social network and tablet IT gadgets are having a great influence on their lifestyle. This had led to Canon being proactive with the constant development of new technology to serve this changing trend.
In terms of Digital Cameras and VDO Camcorders, Canon will also launch new features for creative photography, in particular, the fish-eyed lens, which will be introduced for the first time in the world. The fish-eyed lens will provide a 180 degree panoramic view thus adding an extraordinary view to photos taken by a single lens digital camera.
During the 1st half of 2011, Canon will introduce 2 new models of Single lens Digital Camera, 9 models of Compact Digital Camera, 8 models of Digital VDO Camera including 1 model of professional digital camcorder.
Consumer System Products: These outstanding products for corporate and home users, particularly Canon's ink jet printers, have firmly ensured their no. 1 position in sales volume for 10 consecutive years. Canon's all new printer models come with superb functions to serve home users seamlessly such as new premium features like "Full HD Movie Print", thus allowing customers to print high resolution pictures at just one touch by selecting the shots from a VDO clip. To rock the hearts of new generation consumers, Canon has also introduced the latest hip applications "IEPP / EPP Canon iPhone Easy-PhotoPrint Application" which lets customers print photos from iPhone,iPod, iPad (for iEPP App) and Android mobile phone system (for EPP App) via WiFi. Meanwhile, users can also print their own photo book instantly via the hip application called "Photo Book Application". In addition, the new sleek design - the genius Dual Function Panel provides automatic change of function instantly.
Concerning laser printers, Canon will unveil new technology that will increase the efficiency of the print workload and make savings in the the organisation's operational cost along with the avant garde print-via-WiFi function. The Company plans to introduce 32 models of ink jet printer, 34 models of laser printer and 15 models of projector in 2011.
- Business Imaging Solution Product: Aiming to serve users with unmatched efficiency, Canon has successfully come up with the electronic after sales service called
"e-Maintenance" to provide a regular check-up service for photocopiers. This superb service working as the user's personal secretary from Canon will provide a notification alert of useful information related to the functioning of a photocopier, from usage report, quantity of the remaining ink to function errors via the internet. In the meantime, Canon clearly outshines its rivals in product development via the "Green Technology" consciousness, starting from using 100% bio based plastic in the production of all components which can be recycled to using efficient energy resources and transportation system. This effectively reduces the emission of carbon dioxide by over 30%. Besides, we strictly comply with the manufacturing standards and the prohibition of using 24 toxic chemicals (RoHS's regulation limits the usage of only 6 toxic chemicals). This year, Canon will launch 10 new models of photocopier.
Delighting with Service — Canon is now taking further steps forward by expanding its distribution channels, building strong sales teams and implementing value-added services through the set up of new Canon Concept Stores in upcountry provinces. In addition to 4 existing stores, 4 new stores will be set up in 2011 with the aim of expanding the customer base in upcountry cities. Having placed great emphasis on the increased efficiency of heavy workload management and information safety in Canon's multifunction photocopiers, Canon has now left its competitors behind with a premium customer service named "e-Maintenance". Such a service will provide a notification alert of information and the different status of a photocopier via the internet, thus effectively reducing the paper management expense with better expenditure control. Technically, the system will automatically send a notification alert of useful information about a photocopier to Canon technicians in order to provide a precise and speedy service. This will certainly remove the burden of system check-up and prolong the shelf life of a photocopier.
Delighting with Corporate Vision — Following the "Kyosei" business philosophy used by Canon worldwide which means living and working together for the common good, Canon has long been committed to environmental responsibility and developed their products with the consciousness of "Green Technology". Every corporation nowadays puts eco-friendly responsibility as their top priority and uses it as the criterion in purchasing products that are safe for users and the environment. In 2003, Canon's products were recognised by the Thai Environment Institute with the Green Label being awarded to 10 models and Canon is planning to obtain the Green Label for another 10 models in 2010. Meanwhile, the Company has continued the " Clean Energy for Green World" project by installing wind turbines generating electricity to use with electric appliances in school libraries in rural areas nationwide. Starting in September 2008, the project has so far installed 19 wind turbines in every region of Thailand and is simultaneously focusing on the participation of teachers, students and the local community. Furthermore, Canon has carried out various social contribution projects to provide support in areas such as education, sport, environment and culture.
With regards to the turnover of the year 2010, Canon Marketing (Thailand) enjoyed a growth rate of 13% which is equivalent to a combined revenue of 7.76 billion baht. Three product groups contributed to this success: 3.98 billion baht from Digital Cameras, Digital Camcorders and Compact Photo Printers; 2.63 billion baht from Ink Jet Printers, Laser Printers and Network Cameras; and 1.1 billion baht from Photocopiers. Of all Canon's products, Digital Single Lens Reflex Cameras significantly rose from 62% in 2009 to 66% in 2010.
For 2011, Canon expects to see increasingly tough competition amongst all players in various aspects from product innovation, point-of-sales activities, convincing payment terms and conditions to image-building TV commercials. All of these will certainly drive overall market growth, widespread public awareness and finally help stimulate purchases. In the meantime, Canon will continue focusing on the "One For All Delight" strategy in 3 categories as a means to accelerate higher market growth than last year, and particularly, to drive Canon's market share even further ahead.
By the end of this year, Canon is confident to gain more market share in all sectors e.g. cameras, printers and photocopiers, reaching 5.07 billion baht, 2.99 billion baht and 1.24 billion baht respectively. The combined revenue will undoubtedly blaze the trail for Canon Marketing (Thailand) to grow further by 20% which is equivalent to 9.32 billion baht.
