Khun Thanadej, Acting Trade Commissioner, introduced the Thai food industry to outstanding foods from New Zealand that are premium quality, safe, sustainable and traceable at the Health Food and Ingredients Thailand exhibition 2011, Impact Exhibition and Convention Center. Bangkok THAILAND, 4 March 2011 - New Zealand food and beverage exports to Thailand recorded a near 50% increase in 2010 making the kingdom New Zealand’s fastest growing export market. With total exports totaling USD $492.58m, the food and beverage industry alone accounted for almost two-thirds of the total value after an increase of over 40% year-on-year. New Zealand is regarded as a global leader in safe and healthy produce benefiting from natural advantages such as clean water and fertile soil and boasts a sound regulatory regime aimed at protecting and promoting public health and safety. This, coupled with Thai consumer’s increased spending power and appreciation for international flavours, represents an excellent opportunity for New Zealand food and beverage producers and local distribution partners. “There is a growing demand in Thailand for premium quality food and beverage and, as the Thai public becomes more aware of the healthy qualities of innovative New Zealand food and beverage, we anticipate the trend of increased exports to Thailand to continue,” says Khun Thanadej Trakul-Yingyong, Acting New Zealand Trade Commissioner to Thailand. “New Zealand’s export success is a result of several factors — a system of traceability, allowing you to trace food products back to their source; a pioneering and innovative attitude; and a sustainable farming and agriculture system.” New Zealand currently exports over 80% of its total food production to over 180 countries worldwide, including Thailand, and is well-qualified in providing high-quality healthy food. Representatives from the food industry and the Thai public will have an unprecedented opportunity to sample innovative and healthy food and beverage items from New Zealand when they attend the Health Food and Ingredients Thailand exhibition 2011. New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE), New Zealand’s national economic development agency, is bringing together nine New Zealand food and beverage businesses to exhibit at the international food industry exhibition which will welcome over 80,000 local and international visitors. Companies joining the New Zealand pavilion will showcase a range of specialty food items designed to add value to healthy diets and lifestyle. The Health Food and Ingredients Thailand exhibition will take place at Impact Exhibition and Conference Centre from 3-6 March. “Visitors to our stand will learn about New Zealand’s world-leading food industry and be able to sample a variety of products,” adds Khun Thanadej.
