Honda provides urgent help to earthquake and tsunami victims in JapanDonates 300 million Yen plus 1,000 electric generators and5,000 canisters of butane gas
Honda Motor Co., Ltd. would like to express its deepest sympathy and condolences to the victims of the Tohoku Earthquake that recently took place off the Pacific Coast of northeastern Japan and the resulting tsunami, and offer our sincere hopes for the earliest possible relief and recovery of the affected areas.
To help contribute to relief efforts for the affected areas, Honda will donate 300 million yen (approximately 100 million baht) plus a total of 1,000 generators (both gasoline-powered and home-use butane gas canister-powered) along with 5,000 canisters of butane gas. Honda also will send several staff to the area to provide instructions on how to use the donated generators.
Considering the need for electricity conservation and to co-operate with the rolling blackout requested by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Honda has suspended all production activities at six of its plants, which are the Sayama Plant at Saitama Factory (Sayama, Saitama); Ogawa Plant (Ogawa-machi, Hiki-gun Saitama); Tochigi Factory (Moka, Tochigi); Hamamatsu Factory (Hamamatsu, Shizuoka); Suzuka Factory (Suzuka, Mie); and the Kumamoto Factory (Ozu-machi, Kikuchi-gun, Kumamoto). Honda also suspended operations at the Tochigi Factory, which was affected by the disaster, including the Honda R&D Co., Ltd. R&D Center (Tochigi) and Honda Engineering Co., Ltd. Honda expects all of these facilities to resume operations after 20 March, 2011.
