Bangkok--24 Mar--Weber Shandwick - World Premiere of the New-Generation Chevrolet Colorado Show Truck - Chevrolet celebrates 100 Years of Excellence - Special display of Chevrolet heritage trucks - Special promotional offers for customers at Chevrolet’s booth during BIMS The new-generation Chevrolet Colorado show truck was revealed to the Thai and global public for the first time in the recent 32nd Bangkok International Motor Show. Shown to a VIP audience three days before, the new-generation Colorado show truck drew admiring remarks and generated much excitement, giving a strong hint of what is to come from Chevrolet in the very near future. “Thailand is the world’s largest market for midsize pickups, so this is the perfect location in which to unveil our new Colorado,” said Mr. Martin Apfel, president, GM Thailand/Southeast Asia and Chevrolet Sales (Thailand). Built on Chevrolet’s strong truck DNA and award-winning heritage, the show truck featured an extended-cab body atop a high-ride all-wheel-drive chassis and comes with large, 20-inch wheels and off-road tyres. It was equipped with an efficient 2.8L turbo-diesel engine, which produced a broad torque band for excellent cargo and towing capability, in addition to enhancing drivability and fuel efficiency. While the new Colorado was developed within GM’s global product development organization, engineers took careful steps to ensure it would meet local market needs in Southeast Asia. Senior engineers lived in Thailand for several months during the truck’s development, immersing themselves in the market and observing how Thais use their trucks and the road conditions they experience. Similar exercises have been conducted in other Southeast Asian markets to ensure compliance with local conditions and requirements. In addition to the show truck, Chevrolet Sales (Thailand) also put on display a collection of Chevrolet heritage trucks, including the 1926 Chevrolet Superior Series X, 1956 Chevrolet 3100-series Stepside 1/2 —ton pickup and a 1960 Chevrolet pickup that took part in the 16,100km 2005 ‘Old Way Expedition’. “The display underlines Chevrolet’s almost century-old truck heritage epitomized by the new-generation Colorado show truck. It also celebrates the beginning of a new century for Chevrolet,” Mr. Apfel said. Mr. Antonio Zara, Vice President, Marketing, Sales and Aftersales, Chevrolet Sales (Thailand), said,” Even though, this new generation Colorado Show truck is just a concept car, thus a well represent of long transforming heritage of the new generation Colorado pickup truck which will occupy the market very soon.” “Durability, great performance, plus advanced technology from our show truck will be transmitted into the latest generation Colorado. The Colorado show truck was designed to operate in all conditions including commercial and private use, on and off the road.” Mr. Zara continued.
