European Enterprise Co Ltd has shown confidence that Skoda vehicles from the Czech Republic will be able to stand out from the crowd at this year’s Bangkok International Motor Show with its sharp urban character and European safety standards.
With the “City Life, City Drive” slogan at this year’s Bangkok Motor Show, the Skoda booth will be divided into three zones — City Car, City SUV and City Luxury Saloon.Among the new models launched include the Skoda Yeti, the newcomer that tears apart the old SUV rules with its sharp design and European Car of the Year 2010 runner-up award.
The Skoda Superb will be introduced for the first time in Thailand — the midsized saloon features luxury and spaciousness, as well as safety and value for money. Meanwhile, the Skoda Fabia will also be exhibited in the City Car zone.
Skoda distributor European Enterprise, which is part of the Directional Automobiles Development Co Ltd or the DAD Yontrakit Group, officially launches the Skoda Yeti and Skoda Superb at the 32nd Bangkok International Motor Show to serve customers who demand the higher standards of imported vehicles and safety levels.
The Skoda Yeti is a midsized SUV for the city that stands out from the crowd with its sharp lines and muscular looks. The one-piece headlights and large round fog lamps along with the vertical front grille with chrome top give the Yeti a serious appearance. Inside there are plenty of space plus comfort and convenience features for both city or upcountry driving. The seats are mounted up high, giving occupants’ better visibility, while the Vario Flex rear seats comprise of three parts and can be configured in many different ways. This makes it more convenient to store and retrieve luggage and other items from the Yeti, which was also awarded as the runner-up of the 2010 European Car of the Year.
The 5-door hatchback two-wheel-drive Yeti is available in two trim levels — Classic and Ambience, both powered by a 1.2-liter turbocharged and intercooled direct injection engine with multi-point injection. The engine is capable of producing continuous flow of torque and is mated to a Direct Shift 7-speed dual-clutch transmission offering both sport (with tiptronic gearshift) and economy modes.
The Ambiente model also features a two-piece panoramic sunroof that lights up the interior along with roof racks.
The Yeti passes European safety standards with 5-star rating from Euro NCAP scoring 92 per cent for full frontal, offset and side crashes.
The body of the Yeti has been designed so that it can handle impact from every direction. There is a total of 8 airbags, and there is also a fuel shut-off valve that will automatically cut fuel supply.
Safety features offered in the Yeti include ESP (Electronic Stability Program), ABS-governed brakes with HBA (Brake Assist), ASR (traction control), limited slip differential, EDS and Day Light system.
The Skoda Superb is the other model that has been selected for marketing in Thailand. This midsized saloon has been designed to reflect a high level of luxury, spaciousness and the highest safety technologies. The elegant styling also boast a powerful character that blends together perfectly from front to end.
The Skoda Superb is more than just a saloon. The Twin Door System at the rear allows it to be used like a 5-door hatchback, with the door opening high and wide. This makes it convenient when loading and unloading into the luggage compartment. The rear door features electric locking system that makes it safer and easier to use.
The interior of the Skoda Superb is spacious and has been designed to offer maximum occupant comfort. The seats are crafted from high-quality materials including high-grade leather and just the right firmness, while the Climatronic system is fully automatic and features dual zone temperature controls.
The Superb’s 1,800cc 4-cylinder engine features a Stratified Injection system from the Volkswagen Group and is capable of producing 160hp (118kW) and steady torque of 250Nm from 1,500 to 4,200rpm. This allows for outstanding flexibility as well as acceleration at every speed range.
It also comes with the best transmission in the automobile industry — the 7-speed dual clutch DSG (Direct Shift Gear) with torque convertor and tiptronic control allowing for both sporty and economy driving styles.
The Skoda Superb features the highest safety standards for both pre- and post- crash thanks to its safe body structure, which earned a 5-star crash test rating from Euro NCAP. The Superb comes with dual front airbags and side airbags. The Ambiente model also comes with window airbags, rear side airbags and knee airbags. The electromechanical power steering is electrically-powered and offers confident control in every weather and road condition.
Meanwhile, Skoda is also showing the new Fabia, which was launched late last year, at the 2011 Bangkok Motor Show. The Fabia’s modern and active design, with a hint of elegance, reflects European styling that is simple, well-built and functional. The controls and combination switches are easy to use while the fascia is easy to read. The steering is compact and adjustable while the seats are ergonomic and supportive, offering occupant better visibility.
The Skoda Fabia is powered by a 1.2-liter TSI engine featuring direct injection, turbocharger and intercooler, capable of producing 105 hp (77kW) and boasting an average fuel economy of 18km/liter. This gasoline engine also passes the Euro 5 emission standards.
The availability of low-rev torque gives the Skoda Fabia agility in every road condition. Mated to the engine is a high-performance DSG system with dual clutch and torque convertor, along with 7-speed tiptronic mode.
In terms of safety, the Skoda Fabis comes with dual front airbags, front and rear window airbags, seatbelts with pretensioners, ABS brakes, MSR/ASR (traction control), ESP (Electronic Stability Program), EDL (Electronic Differential Lock) and Hill Hold Control, which prevents the car from rolling when starting off on an incline.
Customers for Skoda get a special introductory pricing of Bht 999,000 with special interest rate starting at 1.99 per cent or opt for 72-month installment plan. At the same time, Skoda, which is one of the brands distributed by DAD Yontrakit, is also participating in three other campaigns including the “DAD Back Home” promotion offering free 10-item checkup for old and new Skoda customers. Skoda cars from every year are welcome to come for service at after sales centers belonging to the DAD Yontrakit Group. This is a gesture to thank our valued customers for their trust in Yontrakit and our expertise in looking after European cars.
The other two campaigns are for new Skoda and Yontrakit customers who place orders at the Motor Show. The gifts include a 1”DAD VVIP Card” with 10-per cent discount for spare parts and 15 per cent discount for labor. There is also a free slide-on service for transporting vehicles for scheduled checks. In addition, Skoda has also joined hands with Life Star Wedding Studio and offers a special portrait package for customers. The campaigns are valid from March 25 to April 5, which is the final day of the Motor Show.
