Chevrolet Thailand Doubles Motor Show Bookings Results make Chevrolet the leading non-Japanese brand at BIMS

Bangkok--11 Apr--Weber Shandwick - Motor Show booking up 116 percent over 2010 - Great results on the back of strong 2011 Q1 performance - Won a total of four awards — three ‘Car of the Year’ and ‘Best Design’ award for its booth at the show Chevrolet Thailand more than doubled its motor show bookings at the recent 32nd Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS) compared with BIMS 2010, with a total booking of 1,764 units. This represented a 116 percent increase over BIMS 2010, again ranking Chevrolet as the number one non-Japanese brand at the 32nd BIMS. Chevrolet also bagged four awards along the way — three ‘Car of the Year’ awards and a ‘Best Design’ award for its booth at the motor show. Mr. Martin Apfel, President of Chevrolet Sales (Thailand) said, “Chevrolet continues its rise on the strength of great product, great quality and a relentless commitment to great customer service. The numbers achieved at this show underlines customers’ confidence in our response to their needs and aspirations. This is what matters most and motivates the Chevrolet team tremendously. We also generated great feedback on our Chevrolet Colorado Show Truck, which had a successful global premiere right here at the BIMS.” He added, “This is the second wave of great news from Chevrolet, following our recent announcement of strong 2011 Q1 results. Chevrolet achieved a total of 1,764 bookings at the recent BIMS — a 116 percent increase over BIMS 2010. “The Chevrolet Cruze and Aveo were the most popular models. The award-winning Cruze secured 888 bookings while the Aveo recorded 493. This was followed by the Chevrolet Captiva which captured 298 bookings while the award-winning Colorado achieved 104 bookings,” said Antonio Zara, Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Aftersales, Chevrolet Sales (Thailand). In addition to doubled booking results, Chevrolet also won a total of four awards at the BIMS — three ‘Car of the Year’ awards (two for the Chevrolet Cruze and one for the Colorado) and a ‘Best Design’ award for its booth at the motor show. “The Chevrolet Cruze, which was only launched in Thailand in November 2010 was already a crowd favourite. In addition to leading sales, it also won the ‘Best Car under 1800cc’ and ‘Best Design’ awards. Our heritage in building great trucks also resulted in the Colorado winning the ‘Best Pickup under 3200cc’ award,” Mr. Zara added. Additionally, Chevrolet also won the ‘Best Design’ award for the design of its stand at the BIMS. “The inviting design details of our stand were consistent with the spirited brand character of Chevrolet; a practical brand that understands customers' needs with every great attention to details. The brand that always strives to advance, yet staying close to human's desires. The design also paid tribute to Chevrolet’s 100 years of automotive excellence, and the awards and booking figures all contributed to a great kick-off for Chevrolet’s centennial celebration this year,” Mr. Zara concluded.
