In celebration of the Royal Wedding, Bling My Thing assisted Swarovski to create a crystallized ‘Royal’ MINI Cooper, which will be showcased at Westfield London on Saturday 23rd April. Accompanying the elaborately designed British chariot will be William and Kate look-a-likes, who will be on hand to meet and greet shoppers.
Along with the most sparkling Union Jack roof, which is completely embellished with thousands of small SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS, the chassis of the MINI is encrusted with the beautiful Swarovski Swanflowerฎ print.
‘We were thrilled to be part of the project,’ says Tobias Schramm, Managing Director of Bling My Thing. ‘As a licensing partner of Swarovski, we are one of very few professional specialists in flatback crystal application who have the experience and know-how to execute a project like this. We have crystallized cars before but this MINI Cooper is definitely one of a kind.’
The production took place in Bling My Thing’s design atelier in Berlin. Over 300,000 SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS have been hand-applied by a team of BMT design team, lead by Ayano Kimura, Chief Designer of Bling My Thing. A combination of Indian Siam, Montana and Crystal SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS were used to create the striking Union Jack design on the roof. The body was encrusted with various sized SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS, where the smallest crystal being 1.8mm!
‘It was by far the most challenging project we had," Kimura talks about the production. "There were many unforeseen difficulties in implementing the project on time but we always came up with creative solutions to deal with the situation. Many hard-working hours have been poured into it and we are all very proud to present this beautiful, most sparkly vehicle for the most celebrated event of the century!"
From Sunday 24th April until Sunday 1st May, the Swarovski ‘Royal’ MINI Cooper will be displayed at the Swarovski Flagship Store so make a trip to 321 Oxford Street part of your Royal Wedding jubilation!
