Bangkok--28 Apr--Aberdeen Asset Management
Aberdeen believes Global Emerging Markets outlook then introduce “Aberdeen Global Emerging Growth Fund” (ABGEM) which mainly invests in stocks in Global Emerging Markets. The fund continuously grows with THB 1,017 MM of Net Asset Value. (As of April 22, 2011)
Mr. Adithep Vanabriksha, Director and Chief Investment Officer, said: “Emerging equities rose despite heightened volatility. Improved sentiment over the global economic recovery and encouraging corporate results outweighed concerns over growing unrest in the Middle East and Japan’s earthquake and nuclear disaster. Economic data underlined emerging economies’ continued momentum. Brazil’s GDP gained from solid domestic demand; India, Turkey and South Africa saw upbeat manufacturing output; while exports rose in Czech Republic and South Korea. Increased price pressures prompted many central banks to continue raising interest rates or lenders’ reserve requirements, or both. Brazil increased taxes on overseas loans and bond issues to curb the currency’s appreciation. Moreover, India and China aim to boost domestic consumption.”
Mr. Adithep Vanabriksha added “Emerging markets have rebounded after a weak start to the year. Risk appetite has improved amid easing concerns over potential economic slowdown due to tightening measures. In addition, flows out of emerging markets appear to be stabilising. Aberdeen remain sanguine over emerging markets’ long-term fundamentals. The recent rotation into developed markets as well as export-driven companies within the asset class has thrown up opportunities, enabling us to add to a number of holdings that have fallen significantly from their previous peaks.”
Aberdeen Global Emerging Growth Fund has been registered since April 2, 2010 with the investment policy to invest in units of a foreign fund, Aberdeen Global - Emerging Markets Equity Fund* (Master Fund), at least 80% of its NAV in any accounting period. The rest will be invested in securities or other assets approved by the SEC as the fund manager deems appropriate for the benefits of unitholders.
