Thai bourse uses storytelling to promote smart savings, spending and investment

Bangkok--3 May--SET The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) has organized the “Smart Savings, Smart Spending, Smart Investment” storytelling contest, in which youth and the general public relayed their experiences or displayed their imagination through writing. This contest was to encourage people to save and start financial planning, thus promoting an investment culture. “The contest welcomed 1,377 stories from participants nationwide. The contest was divided into 3 different categories: students in primary school (Pratom4-6), secondary school/vocational college students, and undergraduate/general public. Out of these, 36 stories were published in the ‘Smart Savings, Smart Spending, Smart Investment’ book, to promote the savings concept and inspire readers to be active in the routine planning of their savings, which will benefit their quality of life. The SET has, so far, distributed the ‘Smart Savings, Smart Spending, Smart Investment’ book to more than 400 schools under the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration. The contest is one of the many corporate social responsibility activities through which SET promotes a savings culture”, revealed SET President Charamporn Jotikasthira. The winner of the primary school (Pratom4-6) category was Thanyares Wichasarn from Baan Pothi Sai School, Kalasin, writing on “Pen Yoo Yaang Poh Piang” (“Living a Moderate Life”). The winner of the secondary school/vocational college category was Suparatch Luang-suwan from Yothinburana School, with the story “Jaak Maled-pun Soo Ton-kla” (“From Seed to Sapling”). Finally, the winner of the undergraduate/general public category was Mr. Kittikhun Wang-worawit from Chulalongkorn University, with the story “Moen Dao” (Neglecting the Stars). Each winner received a scholarship and certificate of recognition, while the educational institution from which each person came from received a mini-SET Corner and a set of book for young readers, altogether worth more than THB600,000 (approx.
