Thai bourse and Siam Commercial Bank promote financial literacy

Bangkok--31 May--SET The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) joins with The Siam Commercial Bank PCL (SCB) to strengthen its bank branch managers’ skills and expertise in giving advice on financial management under the project “Wealth Management @ Bank.” The project will also emphasize on building quality investors through the bank’s network, while introducing new services and products to all savers. “Wealth Management @ Bank’ is a significant and continuing strategy to expand Thailand’s investor base through commercial banks. We are confident that our collaboration with SCB, which is a high-potential bank with outstanding performances and has the most branches nationwide, or a total of 1,019 branches, will help strengthen both the project ‘Wealth Management @ Bank’ and the bank itself. The project will supply over a thousand bank branch managers with more knowledge and expertise in giving advice on financial management, different financial products and alternative investments to high net worth customers. This effort will increase the value of bank customers’ savings and expand the quality investor base in the Thai capital market,” revealed SET President Charamporn Jotikasthira. “SCB always places importance on providing excellent services and responding to customers’ needs, which are the heart of our bank’s business operations. We have continued to enhance the skills of our staff to effectively support the changes in financial world. This collaboration provides a good opportunity for bank branch managers to receive knowledge on personal finance management or Wealth Management from Thailand Securities Institute, The Stock Exchange of Thailand’s specialists who are experienced in the capital market and financial products. This will help bank branch managers effectively advise individual customers, helping them achieve their financial goals and acquire the utmost benefit. Moreover, we are proud to help build the long-term fundamental strength of the country’s capital market. SCB retail clients have high potential as individual investors, and are vital to the Thai capital market expansion,” said SCB Senior Executive Vice President, Group Head, Retail Banking Group Yol Phokasub. SET and SCB will together hold training on personal finance management for 1,040 SCB branch managers under this project, aiming at supporting universal banking so that SCB will be the center of savings and investment, providing a complete financial services. The SET’s Wealth Management @ Bank project has been joined by six banks, which were the Bangkok Bank PCL, Bank of Ayudhya PCL, Krung Thai Bank PCL, Siam Commercial Bank PCL, Thanachart Bank PCL and TMB Bank PCL with over 3,000 bank branch managers participating.
