The competition was held under the concept of ‘Machinery, Energy and Environment for Agriculture’, with 55 inventions submitted to the competition. The best invention for the year is a new cutting machine for sugarcane harvesting. The second is a longan-pitting machine with double pitting heads, and third is a water quality improvement machine for aquaculture with blades operated by water flow. Four highly commended awards were also granted. These were for a new lawn mower blade invention, a machine to cut sticky desserts into rectangular shapes, a dry rice sowing machine attached to a tractor, and a ride-on mower with two engines. The invention competition project has been organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Bangkok Bank Foundation for 17 years since 1993.
