Bangkok--29 Jun--MTV CHIANG MAI: Asian pop sensation Super Junior M. delivered an electrifying performance in Chiang Mai’s 700th Anniversary stadium to more than 20,000 screaming fans at the “MTV EXIT Live in Chiang Mai” concert. It was Super Junior M’s first appearance in Chiang Mai and performed to five of the band’s hot favorites, “Perfection”, “Whisper of the West Wind”, “Blue Tomorrow”, “Destiny”, and “Super Girl”. Also joining the line-up were Australian vocal sensation, Kate Miller-Heidke and top Thai artists ETC., Slot Machine, Thaitanium and Southside Phuket. All eyes were on local all-girl student Indy band, Chaba, who took top honors at the MTV EXIT Battle of the Bands contest held earlier this month in Thailand’s northern capital of Chiang Mai who were also dubbed “The New Face of Chiang Mai Music” by local papers. Chaba took the stage by storm and dazzled the crowd with an amazing performance and uplifting melodies. MTV EXIT is produced by the MTV EXIT Foundation in partnership with the Royal Thai Government, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Australian Government’s Agency for International Development (AusAID). “This was our first ever performance in Chiang Mai and we were thrilled to perform for such a huge crowd in Chiang Mai,” said the members of Super Junior M. “We are excited to join the MTV EXIT campaign to inspire young people across Asia to join the fight against human trafficking. I hope that through our music and involvement in this event and the MTV EXIT campaign, millions of Thai youth will learn about this social issue. I want to encourage every Thai person to help spread this message.” Kate Miller-Heidke was equally elated. “Tonight’s concert was simply incredible,” she said, “but let’s not forget the reason we’re all here. Millions of people are currently living in slavery across the world, and we’re here to make a stand: to end trafficking and exploitation.” “Music is really an incredible force for change and this concert illustrated that”, said Matt Love, MTV EXIT’s Campaign Director. “Tonight, over 20,000 people attended this concert in solidarity — to make a statement that we all have to join together to end modern day slavery.” Film star Ananda Everingham, a long-time supporter and official ambassador of the MTV EXIT campaign shared an inspiring message on the importance of every individual’s involvement to combat the social issue of human trafficking and exploitation together. Everingham is also the host for the new MTV EXIT Thai documentary, Enslaved: An MTV EXIT Special, which will broadcast on MCOT Ch. 9, Tuesday 5 July, 11:00 p.m. MTV EXIT has now held 26 concerts across Asia over the past two and a half years, including events in Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Nepal, Taiwan, the Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Timor-Leste. MTV EXIT Live in Chiang Mai concert special will premiere on MCOT Channel 9 on July 17 at 9:30 p.m. More information about MTV Live in Chiang Mai and the Thai documentary, Enslaved: An MTV Exit Special, please visit www.mtvexit.org MTV EXIT LIVE IN CHIANG MAI is in partnership with: For more media information, contact: Maetavarin Maneekulpan, TQPR, ph: +662 260 5820 ext. 115; Email: [email protected] Shane Lee, MTV EXIT, ph: +66 8 1468 9672; Email: [email protected] Patcharapan Poolpechr, MTV EXIT, ph: +66 89 049 8334; Email: [email protected]
