Mai Khao Marine Turtle Foundation together with JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa organize The 7th Mai Khao Turtle Mini Marathon 2011 Assuring Mai Khao’s Ecological Future
Mai Khao Marine Turtle Foundation in conjunction with JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa and supporters continually held the 7th Mai Khao Turtle Mini Marathon on May 22nd, 2011 with more than 700 runners at Pru Jeh San Lake, Mai Khao Beach, Phuket.
The event started early morning with a welcome speech by Mr. Buayan Suwanmanee, Director of Tourism & Sports, Phuket and keynote addressed by Mr. Tony Pedroni, the new chairman of Mai Khao Marine Turtle Foundation and GM of JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa followed by the race of 10.5 km and 3.5 km. The running club and hotel which sent the most participants are Andaman Pearl club and JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa.
The mini marathon is one of the foundation project annually held to raise funds and awareness for its annual contribution to the Phuket Marine Biological Centre’s Marine Animal Stranding Rescue Project which aims to rescue, treat, rehabilitate and release injured turtles, dolphins, whales and dugongs.
