Bangkok--29 Jul--Professional Media Business
Mr. Pisit Kunanantakul, CEO of Kunka Corporation Co., Ltd. announced the sole distributorship of Morgan cars from Britain in Thailand, and the investment of 200 million baht on the construction of Kunka showroom and service center on New Petchburi Road, which is expected to complete by early 2012.
Appreciated in the fine handmade craftsmanship of the classic British cars with over 100 years of unique manufacturing using traditional building techniques with modern technologies, the CEO has signed the agreement to become a sole distributor of Morgan cars in Thailand.
The company is also a sole distributor of several leading vehicles including KTM Motorcycle and KTM X-BOW Sport Car from Austria, CAN-AM Spyder Roadster from Canada and Segway PT (Personal PT Transporter) from the US.
“All products distributed by Kunka are based on my personal tastes,” Pisit said. “And my expectations on the business opportunities of those products are different from others, who might be aiming for high sales volume of products that are accessible by the mass.”
“I have chosen Morgan because I believe that there are consumers who are fond of unique cars,” Pisit added. “There are production records for all Morgan cars which will be submitted to customers. This shows the manufacturer’s mindfulness to assure that the owner can appreciate the value of the car, which is rare in the car market nowadays.”
Models debuted in the Thai market are MORGAN4/4 and MORGAN4/4 Sport 1600cc at starting prices of 4,200,000 and 4,500,000 baht respectively; MORGAN Plus4 and MORGAN Plus4 Sport 2000cc at starting prices of 4,600,000 and 4,850,000baht respectively; and MORGAN Roadster and MORGAN Roadster Sport 3000cc V6 at starting prices of 6,300,000 and 6,550,000 baht respectively.
The cars can also be tailored with a massive range of options including 40,000 colors, over 100 leather choices and 24 panels. Each car takes 3-6 months to be produced.
A newcomer in the Thailand’s car market, Kunka Corporation targets on niche consumers who are looking for unique driving experience. Realizing that after-sales service is a key to consumer confidence, the company is spending 200 million baht on its showroom and service center for all product range on New Petchburi Road, which is expected to complete early next year.
“I would like to make the showroom a modern museum telling the 100-year history of Morgan cars, which are the fine combination of art and production that can hardly be seen at present as most cars are produced for commercial use. Also, all Morgan cars will be available at the showroom for test driving,” Pisit said.
Capable to support 10 cars a day, the service center has experienced technicians who have derived techniques and craftsmanship from Morgan Motor Company in the UK, along with specific tools for Morgan cars.
“While the showroom is not yet complete, we have already sold some cars. During the first 1-2 years, I am looking forward to the assembly of people who are fond of Morgan cars, which could result in the establishment of Morgan Car Fanclub,” Pisit concluded.
