Bangkok--3 Aug--Standard & Poor's
Fiscal 2010 median ratios improved for U.S. not-for-profit health care systems and stand-alone hospitals, Standard & Poor's Ratings Services said today in two reports.
While credit quality in the sector should remain stable through the remainder of 2011, the sector likely will face more difficult operating conditions and uncertainty related to health care reform and broad industry pressures after 2012, according to the reports.
"Our analysis for 2010 showed a broad improvement across most metrics and rating levels, including gains in unrestricted liquidity, excess income, and overall cash flow, for health care systems," said Standard & Poor's credit analyst Suzie Desai.
"Ratios for stand-alone hospitals improved across the rating spectrum and balance-sheet metrics in particular led the way," said Standard & Poor's credit analyst Jessica Goldman.
Standard & Poor's rates 143 health care systems and 420 stand-alone hospitals, which represent about 1,800 hospitals. Standard & Poor's will hold a teleconference about these two reports on Aug. 4, 2011, at 1 p.m. (EDT).
