Appoints Group CEO and Management Committee to compete at world class level SSI announced a new management structure, appointing a newly-created-role Group Chief Executive Officer (Group CEO) and Management Committee to execute policies from the company board of directors, and well as manage and operate the company’s business to be competitive at world class level.
Mr. Wit Viriyaprapaikit, Chairman of Sahaviriya Steel Industries PLC (“SSI”) revealed that the meeting of the company’s board of directors on August 11, 2011 had resolved to appoint Mr. Win Viriyaprapaikit, the current President, to assume the other position of Group Chief Executive Officer (“Group CEO”), and to establish the Management Committee comprising of Group Chief Executive Officer and top executives from each division and subsidiary in group, effective from September 1, 2011.
Mr. Wit Viriyaprapaikit said “This new management structure was established in order to drive the business growth of SSI as the company becomes the largest integrated steel producer in South East Asia, and the first global steel company from ASEAN. It will allow SSI to effectively and speedily implement policies formulated by the board of directors. Group CEO will take the role as the top executive of SSI group of companies and also be the chairperson of the Management Committee.
The Management Committee will be responsible for managing the company’s business and operation under the board’s direction and for delivering sustainably excellent performance, as well as for strengthening the organization to be competitive going forward according to the company’s vision.”
Mr. Win Viriyaprapaikit, earning a bachelor degree in Industrial Engineering from Keio University, Tokyo, Japan, and an MBA from SASIN Graduate institute of Business Administration of Chulalongkorn University, has assumed the position of President of SSI since 2004. As the President, he progressively managed and led SSI to a successful growth of its business, and the latest outstanding accomplishment was the acquisition of the UK-based integrated iron and steel making facility, Teesside Cast Products (TCP), from Tata Steel Group on March 24th, 2011. The facility is now operating under the new name, Sahaviriya Steel Teesside Plant, by the newly-established Sahaviriya Steel Industries UK Ltd (“SSI UK”), and is going to start up steel making and slab production in December 2011.
