SCB joins with MEA to pioneer online power bill payment service

Bangkok--19 Aug--SCB Determined to continuously devise and develop innovative financial services with the public sector, Siam Commercial Bank has teamed up with the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) to introduce an online power bill payment service on the SCB Payment Gateway through the MEA's website. Mrs. Parnkae Nandavisai, Head of SCB's Global Transaction Services (GTS) Division, said the bank places great importance on meeting the need for financial services by state agencies, and as a result was intent on devising and developing innovative financial products and services on a continual basis. SCB has therefore been entrusted by MEA to act as the first bank to provide an online power bill payment service utilizing the SCB Payment Gateway, a safe e-payment channel backed by state-of-the-art security. The SCB Payment Gateway real-time transaction system will enable power consumers to make bill payments easily and conveniently and see payment results promptly. MEA Deputy Governor Thanit Jenthanomma said the MEA e-Service is a new payment channel catering to the lifestyles of city residents seeking convenience and wishing to avoid wasting time and effort traveling to pay bills each month. Through this service, clients are able to inquire about outstanding bills online and pay their bills via the MEA's website. SCB is the first commercial bank partnering with the authority to develop and provide an online power bill payment service to ensure clients can pay bills conveniently and safely. In addition, clients can take advantage of value added services such as email or SMS notification when a power bill is due. “We expect the new e-billing service will provide our clients maximum pleasure and convenience,” Mr. Thanit said. Online electricity bill payment service through the SCB Payment Gateway is for power consumers who have deposit or current accounts with SCB. They can apply for the service by completing the application form found at www.mea.or.th and choosing bill payment through SCB. Also on offer is email or SMS notification when power bills are due. With the service, consumers can make bill payments conveniently anyplace and anytime, and feel confident with the enhanced safety. The offer is available from now on.
