Mazda introduces Mazda2 Freshening 2011 Combined sales target raised to more than 40,000 units

Bangkok--19 Aug--Mazda Sales Mazda Sales (Thailand) Co. Ltd. has launched another new action in the small car market with the introduction of the Mazda2 2011MY Freshening, while also adding the model name in order to create a clearer market communication for each model type. The 5-door hatchback is now called the “New Mazda2 SPORTS” while the 4-door sedan is called “New Mazda2 ELEGANCE”. Both of Mazda2 SPORTS and ELEGANCE come with larger number of added features inside and out. Now all Mazda2 include dual front SRS airbags, ABS brakes, powered windows, foldable powered side view mirrors and allow wheels for every trim level. Meanwhile, the top version comes with DVD player with 7-inch LCD screen, Bluetooth connectivity, USB and SD card inputs, and full aerodynamic kit. Prices start at only Bt545,000 to Bt695,000. The Mazda2 is powered by a 1,500cc engine that is both powerful and efficient. Mazda is confident of another year of exceptional growth, and has raised the annual combined sales target (every model) to more than 40,000 units. Mr. Choichi Yuki, Managing Director of Mazda Sales (Thailand) Co. Ltd., said the Mazda2 has stimulated the small car market in Thailand dramatically, and gave the Mazda brand a great leap during the past year with accumulated sales of 35,147 units in 2010, up 165 per cent compared to 2009. “This year after seven months, we sold a total of 23,963 vehicles, up 20 per cent compared to the same period last year, and we are moving ahead to penetrate the market with the launch of the facelifted 2011MY Mazda2. We are fully responding to our customer demands by equipping features on sporty design and performance from the entry level model to the top model,” he said. Mr. Yuki said he is confident that the Thai automobile market will grow further this year, and has raised its sales target from 38,500 units to more than 40,000 units. The improvements given to the Mazda2 includes sporty package additions to the sedan version, giving it the same appearance as the top 5-door hatchback model. They include new front grille and bumper, sporty fog lamps, full aero kit (front, side and rear skirt) as well as 16-inch alloy wheels for the intermediate trim and 15-inch alloys in the lower trims. The sideview mirrors are now powered and foldable in every model, while safety is enhanced with dual front SRS airbags in every model plus ABS brakes, foldable remote key, DVD/CD/MP3 player with 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth connectivity, USB and SD Card inputs. “Presently, accumulated sales of the Mazda2 have exceeded 40,000 units, and it has significantly helped strengthen Mazda’s brand image in the Thai market as well as creating improved traffic flow at Mazda showrooms countrywide. The launch of the new 2011MY Mazda2 is expected to help Mazda grow further and win the hearts of customers in the passenger car segment. By the end of the year Mazda should be able to achieve 26,000 unit sales for the Mazda2 as planned, and our image would be strengthened further," Mr. Yuki said.
