Central Pattana Public Company Limited (CPN) is preparing to revolutionize the Thai retail sector with the reopening of the CentralPlaza Lardprao. First opened over 30 years ago, the legendary shopping complex, which has recently undergone major renovations, will be repositioned as Bangkok’s newest “Lifestyle Destination” that promises to offer unique experiences under the “life” concept. The renovated shopping complex features an innovative design influenced by eco trends and modern green concepts, and aimed at bringing nature to customers. Patrons can expect to see a cluster of new restaurants and pastry shops including After You, Krispy Kreme, Bread Papa, Coldstone. Customers will also able to shop at stores of new local and international fashion brands like Coach, Topshop, Topman, Zara, XXI Forever, Japan’s Uniqlo, Kloset, Flynow III, SODA and Greyhound. Over 150 million baht will be spent on organizing various events and campaigns aimed at offering the “life” experience to customers on 28 August.
Mr. Kobchai Chirathivat, CPN's President and CEO said: “As CPN is entering its 4th decade, CPN is ready to revolutionize Thailand’s retail sector with the return of CentralPlaza Lardprao. CentralPlaza Lardprao already revolutionized the Thai retail industry once 30 years ago, and will now be the model for our future shopping complex projects. CPN plans to develop new shopping projects based on the 3 C’s principles: 1. Cutting-edge Design. 2. Customer Focus, which has been improved to provide a more rewarding experience for customers and revamped merchandising to better respond to different lifestyle needs. 3. Care for Society —stepping up efforts to give back to society and preserve the environment.”
The renovated CentralPlaza Lardprao’s target group will be mainstreamers or the mass market with a B+ rating or greater, covering teenagers, students, working adults and families. CPN aims to attract aspirers — consumers who are usually younger people who have not yet achieved the level of luxury to which they aspire, but luxury is what they aim to purchase.
“Customers who have been eagerly awaiting the return of CentralPlaza Lardprao will be excited to see the new look of their favourite shopping mall. We have spend over 3.6 billion baht on the renovation and we were determined to give the shopping centre a thorough makeover, both inside and outside, in order to create a place of fun and happiness for our customers. The renovated shopping mall promises to bring nature to customers, enabling them to feel relaxed while they spend their time here.”
Mr. Kobchai said: “The revamp of CentralPlaza Lardprao includes a mixture of around 500 leading shops that will correspond to the needs of customers with different lifestyles. The renovated CentralPlaza Lardprao will have a restaurant with new categories of restaurants, including family-oriented and lifestyle restaurants, have been added. Customers will be able to choose to enjoy cuisines originating from different regions of the world as well as pastries from renowned bakery stores. CentralPlaza Lardprao’s new restaurant zone will help position this legendary shopping complex as the most comprehensive one-stop lifestyle destination.”
Ms. Yuwadee Chirathivat, President of Central Department Stores Ltd., said: “We have spent a total of 900 million baht on renovating the Lardprao branch of Central Department Store in order to give it a more youthful and fun feel. We have added over 100 new branches and have upgraded services at the Lardprao branch to the level of those offered at CentralPlaza Chidlom. A variety of marketing activities and promotions have been planned to boost sales, starting with the Central Midnight Sale campaign. We expect sales at our Lardprao branch to exceed 1.8 billion baht in four months. “
The revamped CentralPlaza Lardprao will offer an extensive range of goods and services. The new Tops Market will be the largest yet, and will carry a comprehensive range of goods. Furthermore, B2S, PowerBuy, SuperSports and SF Cinema have all been given a facelift and will carry the latest products in order to effectively respond to the needs of customers and deliver a satisfying experience.
“We are confident that customers will like the new image of CentralPlaza Lardprao because we have rezoned the entire shopping center to make sure that customers will enjoy shopping here. We have added new facilities, additional passenger lifts, lifts in parking areas, a VIP drop-off area, more restrooms, more areas for relaxation and more green space. There will also be a family room and a nursing area for mothers. More importantly, the parking has been expanded and will be able to accommodate up to 3,200 cars. We have also implemented a new and innovative “Parking Guidance System” that is designed to give drivers advanced notice on the number and location of available car spaces on each floor of the parking complex,” added Mr. Kobchai.
Ms. Wallaya Chirathivat, CPN's Executive Vice Rresident for Business Development and Construction Management, said: “We have applied world’s newest trend to the new design of CentralPlaza Lardprao, with the aim of bringing nature to our customers. In remodeling, we used materials that have a natural feel and touch to achieve organic, freeform shapes. The connection with nature is enhanced through the use of earth tone colors and an abundance of natural light from large windows and skylights, providing an airy and friendly atmosphere. Green spaces have been added areas surrounding the shopping centre. The front of the building has a giant new media wall embedded with LED lights.”
CPN has also added new stores of leading fashion brands from Thailand and other countries, including Coach, Zara, GAP, Uniqlo, XXI Forever, TOPSHOP and TOPMAN. There will also be stores by homegrown designer brands like Kloset, SODA and Greyhound, as well as lifestyle and beauty kiosk in Island shop style featuring leading brands like Kielh’s, Crabtree & Evelyn, Juice Beauty, Tendance, Glam Rock, Issey Miyake, Emporio Armani, IC Berlin and FCUK.
Moreover, customers can expect to see over 100 restaurants including Krispy Kreme, After You, Kanom, Melt Me, On the Table, Taling Pling and Laem Cha-Reon Seafood. The restaurants all have trendy decorations and some even feature special decoration concepts.
Ms. Piyaphan Chirathivat, Vice President, Corporate Direct Marketing of Central Marketing Group (CMG) said: “CMG has confidence in CPN’s growth potential.
