MCOT elegantly triggered the war of ABU Robocon 2011 International Contest with 18 countries participating at The IMPACT Arena, Muang Thong Thani and prepared to hand over the next contest to Hong Kong, the host country next year.
MCOT Co., Ltd. (Plc.) elegantly triggered the war of the 10th ABU Asian-Pacific Robot Contest 2011 in Bankok as the selected host country. In this contest, the two representatives of Thailand, “Look Chao Mae Klong Prapa The Limited” from the Dhurakij Pundit University, Thailand Champion and “Soom Kor” from Kam Phaeng Petch College of Technology will participate with the student representatives from the other 11 countries in Asia-Pacific Region under the concept of “Lighting Happiness with Friendship” or whoever wins his own heart and the others’ will be the winner forever. Afterwards, Thailand will hand over the next year contest to Hong Kong, who will be the next host country.
Mr. Tanawat Wansom, President of MCOT Public Company Limited cited that that the International ABU Asia-Pacific Robot Contest (ABU Robocon) was originated in in Tokyo, Japan since 2000 with the members countries, ABU (The Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union) who have the same objectives in arranging the Robot contest which were invented by the college or vocational students in the region on the annual basis. This objective is set up in order to develop new learning, creativity and innovation skill development for the young people to equally educate, enable and understand while the relationship and the cultural exchange can be promoted with the good wish to join hands in the creation of the whole society in the Asian-Pacific region. Each year the member country takes turn to be the host.
On the occasion of the 10th Anniversary of The ABU Asia-Pacific Robot Contest or ABU Robocon 2011, Thailand was honored to be the host country, Modern Nine Television as one of the members of as one of the members of The Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union — ABU and the representative of Thai TV pool (TV pool) therefore will present our beautiful Loy Krathong Culture which some part of the Thai culture is applied to mix with the modern technology, a robot as the theme of the contest “Lighting Happiness with Friendship” or whoever wins his own heart and the others’ will be the winner forever which is the main objective of this contest.
This year, the young teams who represent 18 countries: Brunei, China, Egypt, Fiji, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, Russia, Sri Lanka, Turkey, Vietnam and Thailand, except for Laos and Russia who have just participated in the contest for the first time, are going to come and join in the contest. Each country can send 1 representative team while the host country can send 2 teams which then makes 19 teams altogether. Each team will include 3 students and 1 academic advisor. The team must be from the same University/Vocational School. Our 2 student teams from Thailand are “Look Chao Mae Klong Prapa The Limited” from Dhuraki Pundit University, Thailand Champion for 3 years consecutively and “Soom Kor” from Kam Phaeng Petch College of Technology, the runner-up of Thailand Champion.
“The main concept of this contest is that the audience can easily understand the rules, they will be excited and enjoy watching the intellectual robots while working in the changing environment and they can mechanically hold and place the compositions in 3 dimensions. Moreover, it is important that the robots from each team have to work together. During the contest, the story of Thai culture will be applied to the rules of the contest. The design of the game aimed to entertain the audience while watching it. However, the last mission which is the most important part is to release the candle light to the topmost of the candle sticks was designed for any team who can completely achieve it while the environment is always changing. The team deserves to win the game. The awards are: The First Winner Award, the Second Runner Up Reward, the Best Idea Award, the Best Engineering Award, the Best Design Award, Special Award and ABU Robocon Award. The ABU Robocon 2012 will be held in Hong Kong next year.” the President of MCOT PLC mentioned in the end.
