Mr. Manoon Siriwan, Energy Expert. reveals that Thailand has currently run the national energy strategy and policy following the government regulation. As pervious government saw out of its full term in 2011 (2554), Peu Thai Party has won the vote election as of July 3rd, 2011 and had the biggest number of member of the House of Representatives in setting up a new government. The government led by Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has changed many management policies, especially the energy policy which is the most important factors of production, such as the temporary policy of slashing contributions by refineries to the State Oil Fund, the progressively rising energy price policy, the support of Renewable Energy usage policy, and the policy of increasing usage of Green Energy to 25%. However, new policies inevitably affect domestic economic-related agencies in terms of production and cost of expenses in propelling the national economy’s growth. The Annual Economic Energy Policy Seminar in topic “What do people get from the energy price float?” is held by PTT Plc in association with Srinakarinwirot University, Energy Policy and Planning Office of Ministry of Energy, The Federation of Thai Industries, and Bank of Thailand, inviting many academicians, economists, and financial organization representatives. The objective of the seminar is to provide acknowledgement in terms of energy policy which becomes interesting and makes a great impact to others such as Oil Fund levies termination policy, Oil and Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) price float policy, and so on. The seminar is as a free stage to exchange ideas, aspects for solutions, and knowledge about the nation energy policy and its possible effects as well as applicable comments to the government. During the seminar, Dr. Somchai Jitsuchon Research Director in Macroeconomic Development and Income Distribution of Thailand Development Research Institute, Dr. Pailin Chuchottaworn Chief Operating Officer, Upstream Petroleum and Gas Business Group of PTT Plc., Mr. Jane Namchaisiri Vice Chairman of the Institute of Industrial Energy of the Federation of the Thai Industries, Mr. Yunyong Thaicharoen Chief Strategist at the Bank of Thailand's Office of Corporate Strategy, Asst. Prof. Dr. Pomthong Malakul Na Ayudhaya Dean of The Petroleum and Petrochemical College gladly exchange their ideas and analyze the topic “What do people get from the energy price float?” reflecting short-term policy impacts such as the policy of the State Oil Fund termination from gasoline 91, 95, and diesel fuel to decrease the cost of living, the policy of the present and future energy usage structure, the financial status of the Oil Fund and government budget, Renewable Energy usage policy — Gasohol. In addition, critical comments towards the medium-long term energy policy have been shared. For instance, the result of short term policy mentioned earlier may result the government in terminating domestic LPG and NGV consumption due to the fact that financial liquidity of the Oil Fund has no income. The progressively rising price or adaptive energy policy reflects the possible solutions in long term, bringing the general interest from the restructure. To aid the energy capital of government excluding LPG and NGV, measures and assistance for the victims from both short and long term crisis as well as other institutes are desperately required. Overall, the guidance of domestic energy management will be summarized and handed to the new government to use at its best.
