Bangkok--28 Sep--BICFW 2011 This October, five top designer brands come together for the Bangkok International Couture Fashion Week 2011 (BICFW 2011), Thailand's first true couture fashion week. The BICFW 2011 showcases the talents of Thailand's esteemed style leaders, artists, and artisans for the Fall/Winter season. "Fall and winter collections are often ignored due to Thailand's tropical climate," Says K. It shows the world that Thai designers are capable of competing on an international scale." The Bangkok International Couture Fashion Week 2011 will be held on October 7th - 8th, 2011 along the romantic Chao Phraya River. Each evening the shows start with a welcome cocktail at the Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel, where guests will then board to the BICFW 2011’s runway at The River Promenade. Invited guests include the cr?me de la cr?me of Bangkok, while viewers can catch the show on one of Bangkok’s largest displays, the CitiBank Screen at Interchange 21 Tower, Asoke intersection and live streaming at www.bicfw.com Joining in the BICFW 2011 shows are five of Thailand's leading couturiers, including Somchai Kaewthong of Kai Boutique and K&I; Pichita Boonyarataphan of Pichita; Sirichai Daharanont of Theatre; and Chamnan Pakdeesuk of Flynow. Each designer will create a unique couture collection, with one-of-a-kind pieces. This event will have a highly positive impact on Bangkok as a fashion capital, creating awareness for our native talent and drawing interest from abroad and among our country's young generation. It will also showcase the Chao Praya River, one of Bangkok’s historic icons. THE BICFW 2011 is presented by Bangkok Airways, Raimon Land, Maserati and Mass Group. SHOW SCHEDULE Friday 7 October 2011 7.00pm : Kai 9.00pm : Theatre Saturday 8 October 2011 7.00pm : K&I 8.30pm : Pichita 10.00pm: Flynow The Couturiers: PICHITA After graduating from Hi-School at Pensionat Valmont in Lusanne, Switzerland, Pichitra attented the Chambre Syndical de la Couture and later gained a diploma from Jeoffrin Brys, Paris. Later she trained a mannequin at Torrente Haute Couture and received a diploma from the Ecole de Mannetin - Mannequin Claude L'Elief, Paris. In 1980, Pichitra joined the Rapee institution of Fashion to teach design and modeling. In the same year, she launched her first boutique with designs under the label "Pichitra". The line was exclusive, elegant and stylish. Pichitra is known in the industry as one of the original great Thai designers. FLYNOW FLYNOW is one of the most successful fashion names in Thailand, and is internationally recognized. Starting as a small ladies' wear collection in 1983, they added leather wear to their trade in 1989. Lead by Designer Chamnan Pakdeesuk, FLYNOW now has 10 stand alone shops and more than 60 concessions all over Thailand. KAI + k and i Timeless elegance and superb craftsmanship are the hallmarks of Kai, the last true couture house in Thailand. For more than 40 years, Kai has created custom-made designs for many of the country's best-dressed ladies, and every outfit that bears the designer's signature has a single unmistakable quality that couture lovers around the world recognize: it makes the wearer look beautiful and feel special. Kai is also known for its bridal line, which is recognized as the very best in the country. Many Thai brides grew up dreaming of wearing Kai's dresses on their big day. K and I comes from the fashion house of Kai, and brings a youthful feel to the established brand. THEATRE In 1985 Thai fashion designer Sirichai (Jom) Daharanont, opened his first Theatre shop. It quickly became a favourite among trend-alert men and women for the unique style of Jom's clothes and accessories, a combination of subtly sexy elegance and ethnic accents with a strong sense of fun. From an early age, Jom was drawn to fashion. While studying textiles in college he broadened his knowledge by apprenticing at a couture house. He made hats, bracelets, necklaces and earrings to be worn by models in fashion shows.
