Hair creations under the Polaris theme were chosen to be winners at the recent Trend Vision Award 2011 grand final — held among hundreds of local hairdressers by Wella Professionals in search for the greatest, brightest Thai hairdressing talents to compete at Wella International Trend Vision Award 2011 in New York, USA later this year.
Running consecutively for the 8th year, this year’s Trend Vision Award contest saw hairdressing professionals, as well as the likes of fashionista socialites M.L Rumpapun Jumbala, Natprapa Choonhavan, Kitivichaya Watcharothai and Saisa Amranand gathered together at Aksra theatre in King Power Complex to support and witness the best looks that competed in 2 categories - the “Colour Talents” held among professional hairdressers aged 30 years and above, and “Young Talents” which opened for hairdressers under 30 years of age.
The jury panel including big-names in the local hair community Pannipa Pavanarit Director of Panipa Hair Beauty, Chaiyos Nimrotham Director of Pisamai and P4VIVA, Panitarn Wongsasuluk Art Director-TONY&GUY (Thailand), Wuthichai krajaipoch Bronze winner from International Trend Vision Award 2006 and Sutheesak Bhakdeedeva — known for his role as famous TV show commentator Jo the Star found difficult tasks to select the winners from 12 finalists challenged to perform under one of the 4 themes set for this year features Lumina, Glamazon, Passionista and Polaris created by Wella Professionals.
Nattawat Pienthong from Hair Olympic salon was named the winner in Colour Talents category with his outstanding performance in creating the evening’s strongest look under the theme of Polaris. He designed the look that centred around strong and adaptive personality of a woman who is ready for all kinds of challenges to come, while managing to pull off a cut that flows naturally regardless the angle you’re looking from. The movement of the style also helped accentuate the reflection of hair color in shiny metallic tones.
“Trend Vision contests have always excited me and this time is no exception. It took tremendous efforts and determination in every single detail on the work, unveiled Nattawat who is no stranger to the competition, “I was blessed to have worked with a great, talented team particularly the model that excelled in her presentation of the look. My winning strategy is likely cooking — it is important to recognize the right order in presenting each of the key elements”.
While Young Talents winner Atit Janla from On Ubon Hair Care who also chose to compete under the same theme was beyond thrilled, “It's really surprising and unexpected that my name was announced the winner. I took inspiration from birds that hover with elegance and confidence to create the look. Balance is the secret key of this look I believe. There’s no shortcut to success as I did a lot of homework and practice while preparing for the finale”.
Apart from THB 20,000 cash prize to each along with Wella Professionals products worth THB 10,000, the 2 winners will be flown to New York for Wella International Trend Vision Award 2011 as Dheerasak Tridhip, P&G Salon Professional Site Leader Thailand, detailed “Both winners will be going to New York to present their winning looks to a panel of international judges against hairstylists from over 50 countries worldwide. We are proud to say that Thai hairdressers have made a name for themselves and the country at the international trend vision award finales over the years with their outstanding performances on total creative vision and appreciation of the chosen trends that allowed their skills and innovation in color work and styling to shine. More importantly, having won the Bronze award for the last 3 consecutive years helped earn Thai hairdressers reputation and high regards from the international community”.
Sharp and stunning with precise details were a short summary of the hair fashion presentation by highly skilled and stylish hairdressers from Vidal Sassoon Asia. The show " TRIBE TWO: MID SEASON 2011 COLLECTION" comprised HOME - Asymmetrical channel cut layers combine with geometric outlines to give a weightless free-spirited look and colour combinations of aquamarine, turquoise and chocolate brown FRUIT - Graphic perimeter shapes combine with invisible layering to create shapes that can shift from bold and graphic to unexpected and editorial. Colour is soft rose moves through blood red to a rich crimson — colours blend and coalesces from blue, violet to black, ZEN - Cuts are crafted abstract forms. Monoblocking colours the hair with interlocking shapes, each with a subtly different complementary tone, from pure white, oyster and dove grey to black and midnight blue, and YOUNG FOGEYS - Classical barbering techniques set off foppish textures and sensible partings, heraldic colours of marmalade orange and poppy red glow from within.
