Bangkok--14 Oct--Aziam Burson-Marsteller Asian Honda Motor Co., Ltd., Honda’s Bangkok-based Asia & Oceania Regional Headquarters, announced the impact on Honda operations caused by flooding from heavy rain in Thailand since July 2011. The situation is as follows: - Intermittent rainfall since July of this year has caused flood damage in central and northern Thailand. This flood damage has impacted Honda’s automobile production at Honda Automobile (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (HATC, Ayutthaya plant) as well as motorcycle and power product production at Thai Honda Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (TH, Bangkok, Ladkrabang). - The following is the latest update on the situation, as of October 10, 2011, related to the impact of parts supply disruptions from impacted suppliers, which have had to suspend production and due to water damage at HATC’s production plant. - At HATC, production was suspended from October 4 through October 8 as a result of disruptions in the supply of production parts. On October 8, it was confirmed that flood water was on HATC’s plant property. Due to difficulty in accessing the facility because of an evacuation order, HATC is planning to continue the suspension of production beyond October 10. - At TH, motorcycle production is continuing normally. Power products production was suspended from October 6 through 8 due to the impact of disruptions in the supply of production parts. TH is planning to continue the suspension of power products production beyond October 10 as the outlook for the recovery of parts supply is still unclear. There has been no flood damage within the property of TH’s plant. - Honda would like to express our deepest sympathy and condolences to the victims of the flood in central and northern Thailand, and our sincere hopes for the earliest possible relief and recovery of the affected areas. - Honda will continue providing updated information on our future outlook while exerting a company-wide effort to normalize our production as soon as possible. We deeply regret any inconvenience experienced by our customers and ask for their understanding during these challenging times.
