Asian Honda Motor Co., Ltd. today announced that it would like to offer its deep regrets to Thai people who have been affected by the current flooding situation in Thailand. Honda will donate 100 million baht to the Thai Red Cross Society to help flood victims and hopes that the situation in Thailand can be restored back to normal very soon.
Mr. Hiroshi Kobayashi President & CEO of Asian Honda Motor Co., Ltd. said “Throughout 47 years since Honda has run its business here in Thailand. Honda has always received great support from Thai people. We are also grateful about the way in which Thai people helped Japan when it was affected by the earthquake and tsunami in March 2011. In this critical situation, Honda would like to express our sincerest sympathy to those affected by the floods and show our support by donating 100 million baht to the Thai Red Cross Society to be used for flood relief.” he said.
Even though Honda’s manufacturing facilities in Thailand for automobiles, motorcycles and power products have been affected by the flood especially Honda’s automobile factory located in Rojana Industrial Estate which got flooded in the beginning of this month. “We are confident in Thailand in term of continuing our business and investing in the future. Apart from that, Honda will continue to take care of our staff estimated 6,000 persons by still pay salary as normal. It will take time to restore our manufacturing operations in Thailand. Honda is monitoring the situation closely and will put the utmost effort into restarting production as soon as possible. Together with Thai people, we will overcome the difficulties.” added Mr. Kobayashi.
Since the flooding began, the Honda group of companies in Thailand and its dealers and staff have donated items valued at over 7 million baht to support relief efforts. The donations have included multipurpose engines with boat tail sets, pumps, tents, sleeping bags and survival bags.
