Bangkok--2 Nov--อมตะ คอร์ปอเรชั่น Amata believes flood waters will not impact its Industrial Estate; stands ready to cooperate with IEAT and Industrial Estate clients to help flood victims Amata Nakorn Industrial Estate believes that flood waters from Bangkok will not directly impact investment areas in its industrial estate, since it is an average of two meters above sea level, is situated close to the sea, and the Bangprakong River will provide a natural barrier to any approaching floodwaters. Amata Corporation PCL is prepared to cooperate with IEAT and companies located in the Amata Nakorn Industrial Estate to continue to assist flood victims throughout the country. Mr. Viboon Kromadit, Director & Chief Operating Officer, Amata Corporation Public Company Limited, said that Amata Nakorn Industrial Estate had been closely monitoring current flood levels throughout Bangkok in order to prepare contingency plans to respond to any emergency situation in a timely manner. Its goal is to ensure that flood waters do not enter the industrial areas in the estate. He is confident that Amata Nakorn Industrial Estate can handle this situation because it has catchment areas that can collect up to 20 million cubic meters of water; in addition, there are multiple channels to discharge water into ditches, natural canals, and public canals which are connected to the Bangprakong River. Furthermore, water can be pushed into the sea, which is just 2 kilometers away. Amata has prepared personnel, equipment, tools and a management plan to respond as required. “Investment areas in the eastern industrial estates, including many areas in Map Ta Phut, are not at risk of being flooded because all of them are located in high areas, close to the sea. Presently, many parties are cooperating to deal with the problem as efficiently as possible.” As approximately 10-20 million cubic meters of water per make their way eastward across Bangkok, Mr. Viboon said he is confident that it shall not have any impact to the industrial areas because the Bangprakong River serves as a preventive barrier for Amata Nakorn, and which can also absorb a large volume of floodwaters. Mr. Viboon said that Amata has increased the confidence of investors in its Amata Nakorn Industrial Estate by explaining plans and preventive measures. Amata has also provided assistance to flood victims by contributing more than 2,500,000 Baht to various agencies. In addition, Amata has cooperated with the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand to arrange a caravan of trucks to provide consumer goods and necessary supplies, such as rice, dried food, drinking water, milk, medicine, lighting equipment, mosquito repellants, and clothing. More than 5,000 sets of such goods have been presented to flood victims in Ayutthaya and Lopburi provinces, who have suffered from this severe natural disaster. He said Amata is also prepared to provide further assistance to the victims in other areas, as required.
